NIGHT HID PICS as requested + S2000 HID

OKAY OKAY OKAY by popular demand, I have finally taken pics of my lights at night. I took these with my friend's S2000 beside my car so we could compare. Yes his OEM HID looks MUCH better than mine. His beam pattern is also wayyyy better than mine. But oh well, mine are still soooo much better than stock halogen. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Here's both cars' lights shining against a fence:

Now just the S2000:

Now just my car:

You can see how much sharper the cutoff is on the S2000 (don't ask me why the driver side is so much higher, we can't find any way to adjust it beyond the lights' own self levelers). You can also see how much more even and spread out the S2000 beam pattern is, compared to the hot spot on the ground in front of my car. Yes I would love some OEM HID projectors, but I just don't have the time, money, or resources right now to be hacking up some headlights right now. Maybe in the future.

nice pics https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif , have you tried leveling yours to shine upward more?

at first i thought your lights were better cause they seemed to be much brighter. then i noticed how the s2k's lights spread out much farther. but nice lights anyway

they were higher before (and in people's eyes), and they didn't put as much light onto the ground because they were too high, so I brought them down some.

Looks great! I'm definitely getting a conversion when the car is running properly again!

S2000's are by far the best HID's I've ever seen though!

What the hell is with honda anyway? HID's should be an option on more of their N. american current models. This saving stuff for the home market is ridiculous. You can het HID on a new celica, and even a focus. Not to mention the maxima, murano, mini, altima, the list goes on... Hid's shouldve been available with the old integra. Your beam pattern shouldnt have to suck because some boob at honda NA thought HID's shouldnt go to our market.

Which hids do you have?

PatrickGSR94 12-15-2002 06:37 AM

Re: NIGHT HID PICS as requested + S2000 HID (Kevins2k)

Which hids do you have?
Phillips 4300K.... and I'm pretty sure there was no such thing as xenon HID headlights in 1994.

oh yeah, whoever thinks they have to get some 6000K or higher kit because the 4300K is too yellow, uhhh no. My headlights are not the least bit yellow, not one little bit. Straight up pure white. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: NIGHT HID PICS as requested + S2000 HID (Kevins2k)

hey patrick...finally you got some pics..I knew your pics would turn out great!

Like everyone else, I thought yours were brighter than the S2K, but its because your lights light up the ground more where as the S2K lights have a wider spread and probably light up a farther distance, since they dont produce the hot spots on the ground in front of the car. I always think my beam patten with the 4300k kit is always brighter than other cars with HID, but Im only looking at the light output on the ground...not the beam pattern it produces....either way..im really happy with mine......great pics!

Would 98+ headlights be any different?

Would 98+ headlights be any different?

the 98+ projectors were supposed to project a little further then the previous design so maybe a little bit

imo your HID's look better then the s2k's in terms of usable light on the ground but then i cant tell how far they go

im excited mines should be on their way https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, but what all did you do? yousaid a Phillips kit i believe but was it a kit made especiallyfor the 9006 lights or sumthing? if you could just tell me everything you know about the hid setup. im really interested in doing this.

No they don't, they put down hot spots right in front of the car which quickly fall off about 50 ft. in front of the car.

And I'm pretty sure the actual projector assembly was the same throughout all 94-01 Integras, so the beam pattern in a 98-01 headlight should look exactly the same as mine.

I wouldn't worry nor ponder over it too much

I know when I'm out driving at night, I feel much safer and feel more comfortable because I can see signs from far away and actually see what is going in front of me.

I was driving on the highway last with with a huge raintstorm and needless to say I could see everything in view, I know with halogens, the lane markers would not have been visable because it was almost a lake out there.

Re: NIGHT HID PICS as requested + S2000 HID (Understeer)

I took about 3 hours because I had to figure out where to put the ballasts... I also took my bumper and right side headlight off altogether.

I did figure out that on 94-97 Integras, the right side HID bulb can be put in or removed w/o taking the headlight assembly out. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emhammer.gif on me

Yes the S2000 is lowered with Neuspeed springs. It looks pretty slammed right now, I couldn't even get my floor jack under the OEM front lip. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif He's talking about switching to KG/MM springs, but I dunno if he's going to or not.
