Default starting issue

OK guys heres the issue. 91 LX 4 door. First thing is first. I need to know what a part is called. If you look from the front of the car on the driver side of the engine bay on the wheel well there is a square metal box approx. 2" x 3" basically in front of the strut housing. What is this piece called. My issue is that there are times when the car doesnt start mainly when it is hot outside. I ask about this piece because I otice that when it doesnt want to start I disconnect that piece and even sometimes wet it a little to cool it down and notice the car starts. The car is ruuning great. Full gasket change out 2 weeks ago idle is perfect timing is dead on and no misfires. Car does not over heat everything runs smooth except when the car does not want to turn on. I am assuming it is this piece and because of the heat. I live in florida so you can imagine how it gets at times. Let me know please car is going to leave me straded one day and dont know why.

yeah i have a 91 LX also (2-door) but that box sounds strange....for it to be the problem. if youre trying to start it and you get the engine to turn but not fire then your main relar may be going out the PGM-FI relay. it also is the fuel pump relay. when too hot the relays sometimes dont work if theyre on their last leg. the only problem i have with those boxes you spoke of is that mice sometimes chew up the wiring there and i have to fix the wiring. not my car but many customers cars that live in the desert areas away from town where the surrounding area is mostly desert.

I have a similar problem on my 2001 Honda Accord. Very random occurences of crank/no start. My question is where do I find the pgm-fi relay on my vehicle specifically. also, is this a factory only part, or can i pick one up at my local parts shop. Thanks in advance.
