Lowered
Had a good weekend with the wagon.
Fixed the transmission. The solenoid was out. Works like a charm now. Dropped the front down low. The stock strut was 18" tall, I measured the F&F out to 14 1/2". Was going to do the rears, but the bolts are rusted, any ideals? I used a ratchet, wrench, heat gun, Dewalt electric impact, and a break bar. Also soaked it in WD-40. No luck. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...90219939_o.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...47452015_o.jpg |
Re: Lowered
Type 1s or Type 2s?
|
Re: Lowered
Breaker bar with 5-foot pipe always has worked for me even when the impact wouldn't.
|
Re: Lowered
When I had the same issue trying to remove mine w/ a breaker bar and 4 foot pipe, I ended up getting new bolts and cut the old one off. It took all of 10 sec to cut the bolt than the 15 min I tried different ways to get the rust loose.

Re: Lowered
Try another type of penetrating oil, specifically used for stuck bolts. WD-40 is awesome, but does not have the penetrating abilities of the other specific types. Spray it several times, then use the breaker bar.
This one from autozone is my favorite. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=515413_0_0_ |
Re: Lowered
If the PB doesn't work with your breaker bar, etc, consider cutting the bolts.
|
Re: Lowered
Type ones.
If I cut them, would it be ok to go. To the hardware store? |
Re: Lowered
No, dont cut them then drive to the hardware store. I cut 1, pulled it out, and drove wifes car to the hardware store.
|
Re: Lowered
Good idea to pick up some anti-sieze while at the hardware store so this doesn't happen again if you ever need to pull the struts out later on.

Re: Lowered
I used a breaker bar with a 4 foot pipe on mine and snapped the head off the bolt. LOL. Any suggestions?

Re: Lowered
That looks very gay.
|
Re: Lowered
I cut mine out, get new bushings too. Should be 15$ a piece then a buck or two for new bolts. It's a pain in the ass for sure.
|
Re: Lowered
Talk about a pain in the ass for sure.
We tried a saw all, burning it, breaking it, and everything else. After a couple hours we finally got them out. Luckily I had a rear poly-urethane bushing kit and already had new bolts/nuts from Honda. |

Re: Lowered
I want to thank everyone for the advice, the car is hr away at my parents house untill I get my DL back later next month.
I need to replace the front upper ball joints, then she should be ready for the 15x8 +20 185/55/15 rims/tires. Cant wait to drop the rear. |

(no beef) And you think your 91 accord is "good" car. Thats why you have pictures of it up on your profile huh? Whats wrong w/ a wagon getting a nice wheel and suspension combo to make it look a lil mean? |
Re: Lowered
dont cut springs get lowering springs.
|
Re: Lowered
there not cut :D
my cb7 had progress springs and gr2s my ce1 has f&f type ones |
Re: Lowered
Anyone who hates on a wagon, hasn't seen one done right.
As said above, PB blaster is awesome. I'd recommend picking some up. A little PB, and a breaker bar has done the trick on both of my 6thgens. Except for the damn endlinks for the rear sway bar, but that's another story. haha |
Re: Lowered
Those wagons are nice lowered!

Re: Lowered
This is how she sits right now, until I get down there.
Ill try pb blaster, but I do need to replace the bolt, she was getting a little rounded when I was trying everything to break her loose. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...6-10160923.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...6-10161250.jpg btw this how she sat... http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...47210536_n.jpg |
