Default Intake Filter Question

Does a 3" K&N "cylinder" shaped filter make the same sweeeet noise as a 3" K&N "Cone" shaped filter???

I'm making a shortram and I'd have to wait like two weeks for the cone filter to arrive at the store, but I can get a cylinder filter right now.

What do you guys think?

Wait for the cone.

I would wait too. I don't know about the sound, but the cone would make it look like a decent CAI.

Okay...Here comes a REAALLLLY NOOOOOOOOB question. Just so you're prepared to laugh at me.

When you say that you need a 3" K+N Cone Filter --http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=6532-- what the hell does the 3" refer to, in terms of measurment????

Does it mean the inside flange diameter? the outside diameter? the length?

I'm confuzled

I have a baaaaaaaad feeling I'm gonna end up buying the completely wrong size filter. Any help tips would be greatly appreciated!

Filter doesn't make sound, it's the piping and bend.

NOobs?

filter might could muffler'ed some noise but it's primaryily from the pipe and bend

the 3" refers to the diameter of the hole. its for a 3" intake pipe.

Umm... If it's a CAI, then who cares what the filter looks like? It's not like you can pop the hood and see the damn filter.

why make your own short ram when you dont accomplish anything without boring out the thottlebody to match? doesn't make sense to do all that to get a *sound* and good look...

drop a K&N filter into the stock airbox and call it a day. Your stock intake system is already a CAI if you think about it...
