F22A1 Noisy Engine?
I have a 91' Honda with 170,000 miles on it. The engine is a A1 and I am curious if these engines are known as noisy engines? When I first start it on a cold morning it sounds like a typewriter. When I drive it at low accel and make the engine work harder by taking off at a low speed it really starts to make noise. But once the engine warms to normal temp it is almost as quiet as a mouse but still ticks. Is it anything to worrya bout or is it just what these engines do at this high of mileage? I know Honda Engines can go 300,000 miles and beyond but this has just recently started maybe about 2 months ago and I don't like it too much.
I just redid the valve adjustment this morning when the the engine was stone cold and it makes a world of difference. There is some noise when started but not even half as bad. When it is warmed up it is quiet. Thanks.
The thing was I already tried adjusting the valves but I did it when it was warm still. So the valves were too loose.
