Default exhaust leak???

anyone knows how to test the exhaust leak? cuz i just install a cat-back system including headers. when i test by hand, it seems no air leak. but when i stuff up the muffler, the engine still keeps running except the sound becomes a bit deeper. does this mean any leakage from those pipes? many thanks....

I get someone to press a wadded-up rag onto the tailpipe. That doesn't kill the engine, at least you don't press hard enough to kill it.

Then I crawl alongside & listen up & down the exhaust system. Any leak will become much louder, like a hissing sound.

Or wait until it's below freezing outside, then start up the car. Leaks will appear in the form of white smoke (vapor).
