Default 2000 Honda Accord

I've got a 2000 Honda Accord. The other day I took it up to the shop to get inspected to get tags. The tech started it and brought it outside for me to take home. He shut it off, I got in and try to start it and all I did was just turn over, would not start. He came back out because you heard me trying several times to start it and suggested turning the key over in the ignition switch. I did that and it started right up. The next day my daughter went to use the car, put the key in and turned it and nothing happened except all the bells going off and lights on the dash like it normally does when you're trying to start the car, it would even crank over this time. I tried turning the key over again like today before and still nothing. I'm looking for ideas on what to try to fix the car. Any help would be appreciated

Have you tried all of the keys you have for the car, including the valet key which may have had less use?
Or the ignition lock cylinder is worn out, perhaps more quickly because of key ring attached to the Honda key has many other keys or other goodies making it heavier and preventing complete contact with the electrical bits.

When I first started having problems with it at the shop the other day to get it safety inspected, I had the spare key which only had a small keychain flashlight on it. We didn't get a valet key since the car was used. That's when it started fine for the the tech to back the car out of the service Bay. Then he got out handed me the keys and I got back in stuck the key in, turned it and it would crank over like crazy but not start. Tried that several times with the same result. The tech came out and told me to try the key the opposite direction basically upside down because it works both ways. And this time it started right up. The next day my daughter got in the car and try to start it, all that came on was the dash lights and a bell chiming like it normally does when you try to start it, but didn't even try to start. I told her to turn the key over like the tech told me told me. Still nothing happened.
And to your point about the key ring, my daughters keychain has lots of stuff on it. So I can understand that causing a problem. But then you said to try all the keys. I went and got the spare and tried it and now it's doing the same thing as with her key. I'm thinking the whole lock cylinder thing might be right. But before I went out and actually bought one, of which they're not cheap or easy to replace like old lock cylinders, I wanted to get some other opinions as you might be causing the problem of not starting. Thanks for replying. I'll get this figured out one way or another hopefully with help from you and others on this site.
