Default Wideband question

Im looking to go turbo which means tunning and whatnot. My friends said about getting wideband which doesnt sound like a bad idea but i was wondering if its worth the 200$ - 300$ to get ?

if you have some knowlege of how tuning works, widebands are great for getting big injectors to idle... and making sure you are running fine to get to the tuning shop...
they are also good for tuning for good gas milage... (if you have the proper gear and again, the knowledge to do it)

Innovate makes a good system...

LC-1 is used just off a laptop, no gauge... but if your tuning, you use the laptop anyways...

and the LM-1 is the same thing, but with a gauge...

AEM one is good, but it doesnt have outputs for the laptop.. so no datalogging or anything

If you dont plan on tuning your setup yourself, is it worth having a wideband??

it is if you cannot find someone to make you a basemap that is known to work

its hard with bigger injectors...

unless you wanna trailer it to the tuner

I planned on either driving it (staying out of boost) to the tuner, or trailering it.......

I wont be tuning it myself thats for sure, so im debating whether to buy a wideband....... i can put the money toward other things that is for sure.

wideband is a great investment. To me its just a critical as any gauge.. something to check on and could save you alot of money. Also its great for tuning if you have knowledge of tuning.

$300-500 for wideband.. or pay $1000+ to repair detonation damage.
$100-250 oil pressure gauge.. or pay $2000+ to have your motor rebuilt because your oil pump took a **** on you.

you see where this is going.

YES!! You dont plan on your engine blowing, but you still have an oil light.. you dont plan on your engine overheating but you still have a coolant temp gauge.

To me, it's a very important gauge. I've been tuning my car myself, and now that the outside temperature has dropped (-100 degree Fahrenheit in Canada right now) my tune is much more lean -- dangerously lean, but easy to fix! This is mostly from inexperience but shows that from one day to the next you can be in a situation where you can save yourself a lot of headaches by having a wideband.. for the price, I think it's well worth it!

whats cheaper, buying a wideband and getting the car drivable?
or paying for a tow/flatbed to get to the tuner....

you waste your money on the tow, you can use the wideband over and over

What can i do with a wideband that would make it driveable? Are there that many parameters besides ignition timing i can change to make it run properly? Im going to be using a stock fpr and either 650 or 750cc saturated injectors......... 300-350hp is the goal........

you can view the air fuel mixture. When you know this, you can then take away or add more fuel with some sort of fuel management.
