well 70mm is approximately 2.75" so right in between. I'm looking to make over 600whp and was told by a very reliable source to use 2.5" intercooler piping. I mean the inlet and outlets on my intercooler are only 2.5" so why go 3"?

Good question. Id like to know how much difference it makes.

me too... I'm trying to get around 500hp and i'm running 2.25 pipings only. My turbo outlet is 2.5 then it goes to 2.25 piping and to a 2.75 intercooler then back to 2.25 and to the throttle body. (stock gsr) Do i need to upgrade my pipings?

it depends how thick your fmic is if its 3.5 inches then i would run 3 inch on the tb side.

Re: what size intercooler piping 3 or 2.5 (jdmhonda)

im running the precision as1025. it should be a 3.5in thick. Would it be fine running 2.25 piping on the turbo side and maybe 2.5 or 3 on the throttle body side?

it all depends on you turbo also....if you already have the problem of lag from such a big turbo.. you should indeed run a smaller size piping to speed up the air to the intercooler .. and form there you can go to 2 1/2 ive always went 2.25 to 2.5 piping on all my turbo cars and turbo cars i had to fabricate the intercooler piping

2.5 would work fine, people have make over 600whp on it

Makes sense that 2.25 isn't the best choice on a turbo with a 2.5 inch outlet, but maybe that's just me.

I think it would all depend on each individual set up.

what about running 2.25 in the turbo side and 2.5 on the throttle body side? Would that be better then 2.25 all the way around?

turbosnatch 06-23-2005 06:58 PM

sounds fair to save money and thats the side that matters anyway and not sacrificing as much spool time
