Roughly how much tq/hp would it take to light up heated BFG drag radials in 3rd gear if you have a quaife and traction bar 450hp/300tq?

to have an idea whats just too much for the street. possibly saving money not having to tune for that much power.

I depends on the gearing in the trans and also the size of the bfg's.. Also youll need a good clutch and axles..

Axles?

With the right drivetrain you can spin the tires in 3rd with a stock motor.. I just dont know if you be able to keep them burning for long.. Why not give it a try and let us know how it all works out..

When I had my old motor and it was stock(d15b2/z6 mini-me).. I used to do 2nd gear burnouts at the track with 20x8x13 slicks and a crx dx trans..

i dont think he is tlaking about doing burnouts. i think he is talking about breaking traction so he knows not to go past that limit.

My buddy's 00' Civic Si making about 415whp/260tq from a 3rd gear roll doesn't spin the bfg's at all. 3rd gear brake boost no spin either. 2nd gear roll on no spin either, id have to ask him what happens on a 2nd gear brake boost. 1st gear roll on needs alot of pedal to move out. His car weighs about 2700lbs though, and its got alot of weight on those front tires. complete w/ AC/PS/abs/and all the turbo stuff.

Another buddy's car, 93 Si, about 2450 w/ driver, making 406whp/285tq can do 3rd gear roll ons on regular kuhmo ecsta tires w/ no spin. 2nd gear roll it spins like crazy.

Another buddy's car, 92-95 Si, about 2680 w/ driver, making 520whp/350tq on bfg's will light up the tires on a 3rd gear roll. The front end has hardly any weight on it. No ac/no ps/no abs, most the weight comes from the interior of the car. He can roll on low boost about 400whp in 2nd gear and hook ok, but 3rd gear when he hits the high boost its over, spins in 4th too.

All 3 have GSR tranny's and LSD's.
