when I have my 7k rpm rev limiter chip in my btm, it engages @ about 6700rpm. What is wrong the Autometer tach or the msd [don't have factory tach (dx)]?

yes i believe for the D15B7 DX motor it's about 6,600-6,700 rpm cutoff.

he's running the D16Z6 EX/SI motor, so i'm assuming he's also using the P28 ECU that goes along with that. if he is then it should be more like 7,200 rpm if i remember correctly. aftermarket tachs are normally off a bit from experiences i've had, so i would go by what the ignition reads. though both the tach and the ignition box read off of the same signal normally, the tach needle is often times off a bit.

 

7200 rpm is the fuel cutout on the ex ecu (which I am using) and my tach is accurate w/that so I guess it's my msd chip, that sucks

 

i've had msd chips go bad before. try replacing the chip first since that is the cheapest thing you could do.

 

I have two 7000 chips both activate at the same time
