Default wanna boost a b18b

Hey guys, I'm going to pick up an almost complete b18b1 on sunday for a couple hundred bucks for my del Sol. It has fairly low mileage and the pistons still look great. I'm wanting to do a very low boost setup on it once I get it put together with stock internals. He pulled off the head so now I need a new head gasket and head studs. I was thinkink getting a cometic low compression gasket and ARP head studs and maybe porting the head while it's out. Is this necessary? I'm not gonna ask about all the other little things I need because I have a search bar. I was just curious what would make my stock internal boosted b18b a good setup? thanks

I would do what you said and get a cosmetic head gasket and and change to apr head studs. I would say it is necessary if your planning to boost your motor. Do it right once so you dont have to do it agian.

No. for most power needs under 300whp, those changes are not needed for the B18B. OEM head gasket can work just fine.

What makes a good boosted B18B setup? 1) check the B18B turbo thread, 2) No cheap ebay parts, a realistic power goal, and most importantly, a good tune.

I looked for the b18b turbo thread.... couldn't find it :/

My ultimate goal for this del Sol is 300 horses. Nothing higher. I want it to be a DD and not waste gobs of fuel mileage but rolls with my other civic buddies. I WAS looking at an ebay turbo kit but decided against it. I've done too many things with this honda half asses... :/

What's the difference between these two intakes? and which one should I use for my b18b1 OBD1 motor swap?

you can piece up a turbo kit with quality parts for fairly cheap nowadays. 300hp is very easy to obtain. just to give you an idea, most b18b's with t3/t4's at 10psi are putting down 240-250hp

here's the thread you're looking for

Thanks. I found that right after my second to last post. haha

but can anyone answer my intake question? The manifolds look almost identical except for the sensor on the top of the one in the first picture. and the design of the fuel rail. But what is the difference?

the black one is obd2 the bottom one is obd1. difference is were the evap purge solenoid is. I think the bottom one is a better looking im, both flow the same.

and you can get some cheap parts and make it work. I just highly advise reading as much as you can before you buy some crap that you don't need.

not referring to the intake mani, referring to the turbo parts. and you can use either intake mani they will both work in a obd1 car.

Here's what I ended up doing ^_^

Now I have a question about the head. There's quite a lot of carbon on the valves and in each port. How should I clean this? Also, a friend said I could CAREFULLY take a dremel to each port to give it a mild port/polish. Would this be advisable?

well I just checked and found out that I have a pr4 head and a p75 head. So I decided i'm going to use the p75 head now. The intake from the pr4 i'm pretty sure fits on the p75 but the distributor bolt holes don't line up. Anything else different?
