vortech super charger for B16A2..........
i can get a brand new one out the box and installed on my motor for $3000. should i get it? i heard superchargers are better for daily driven cars. any good or bad things you heard abotu the kit? and i plan to run it at 8 or 9 psi, that should be good enough boost because im not looking to go all out an try to have the fastest honda in the bay lol

Sure, if you only like making power at 9,000 RPM's. I would never stick a supercharger on a motor if a turbocharger was an option.

Turbo's are sooooo much more efficent on our engines. At the same boost levels, you can make tons more power with a turbo than a supercharger.

I agree. I would go with a turbo over supercharger any day. I know this dude that had a b16, vortech supercharger, comptech headers, exhaust at 6psi put down 246 or 250 something.

eaither the vortech supercharger or edelbrock turbo kit and i heard alot of bad stuff about the edelbroack turbo kit, im tryin to keep it legal and plus im going to be driving 350 miles per week(a whole **** load).
i beg to differ with all these guys, i make power all the way through nine and can make more if i wanted!! Vortech kits are awesome and i dont have to worry about boost spiking and such, my car is a every day driver. I guess it is everyone preference but.... some of these statements are very very bias! Do what you want its your money dont have to do what everyone else is doing! Just get it tuned right and you will be fine.

First off how many fast supercharged hondas do you see. When I say that i mean big boys not your neighbor who boast about out running a svt mustang. I have had both. My first mistake was a supercharged gsr swap in my 99 civic. I got smart and trashed the whole damn setup. I am now running a built ls/vtec with a sufficent sized snail and i could not be happier. TURBO YOUR CAR YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not trying to be an ******* but i do want others to learn from my mistakes. Good luck in what ever you choose.

of course you make power all the way through nine, because the power you are making with a supercharger is a direct function of your rpms.

i think it depence on what you want, do you want a dragger get turbo do you want a daily driven blown car get a charger.
i drive a b16a1 crx and got a jrsc drives great but i dont care about a dragstrip just cornering... fun is not a straigt line.....i just like to play with scooby's

The Vortech supercharger is 100x stronger and more reliable than the Jackson Racing unit. It's more like a giant turbo, it's a centrifugal supercharger, not the roots style AKA jackson. I laugh when people say "go turbo instead." Forget the Honda Tech turbo bandwagon... Vortech IS faster than a 7 psi Drag III kit or revhard kit.
The Vortech has an optional aftercooler... and is ready to have the boost turned up; Whereas the Jackson does not have any intercoolers/aftercoolers unless you want to custom fab... So when you get the Jackson, you're done. Have fun turning up the boost.

superchargers will not make as much torque as turbos. torque is what gets you moving. the vortech only makes 'good' power HIGH in the rpm where a turbo will hit full boost at around 4.5 K for a fairly big turbo. going turbo is not a bandwagon, its basically the best way to go if you want a lot of power. also, i believe the vortech kit claims about 282 whp on there 11 psi kit for the b16. if you got say a drag/revhard kit at 11 psi on a b16 you would make more than 282 whp and more torque. you would also have a better powerband.

This is not accurate, care to explain what you mean by efficient?
To the topic creator. No one but you can make this decision. There is a reason that Vortech, DRAG, and even Jackson Racing are all very successful companies, they have a product which sells to a specific market. You need to drive some F.I. cars and choose for yourself. If you are asking because you don't have an idea of how they would feel, then you need to research a lot more before spending this kind of time/money.
One unbiased comment I would make is that I have never seen someone say they had a turbo car, and prefer their supercharger they have now. However the opposite is said all the time. Take that for what it's worth (not much
)

i wouldnt put a blower on my car, imo i think they suck for a 4cyl, because think about it with a turbo you can be at say 5000 rpm and have 12psi of boost and with the blower you wount hit full boost until like redline or so. the gear ratios in a charger is what make up the psi limit, so the faster you spin it the more boost but what good does that do at 9500rpm?
