Default very annoying BREAKING A ENGINE IN

OK this is for all of us who have ACTUALLY built a motor and not for those newb's who read magazines and think they can build a 1000hp all motor engine

This poll is for a engine with moly rings. new bearings, and freash hone.

THis motor will be a daily driver

When you say "coolant cycle" I assume you mean a complete heat cycle?

Assuming that you used the proper hatch for a moly top ring, 3-metal bearings etc, the break-in would be no different that any other engine.

Something off the poll, though... I recommend a 100-mile initial break-in to seat the rings, followed by driving it like you plan to drive it for the remaining break in period, before going into boost or full load.

What? You are conducting a poll to figure out the most annoying engine break-in method?

IMHO the most annoying break-in method would be to run it really hard on an un-tuned engine until you detonate it. Their is nothing else more annoying than grenading your engine just after building it.

yeah but you have to tune it first... so are you suggesting a part throttle tune, then drive 100mi before WOT tune on the dyno?

I plan to take the fast break in route. 2 heat cycles to seat the rings and check for leaks and timming... then street tune for part throttle, follow'd by dyno runs... first up to 4K, then 6k, etc... up to redline

then after its fully tuned I'll drive without beating the crap out of it for a good few hundred miles... then all hell breaks loose.
