A buddy of mine just put a JDM type-r motor in a crx... and he's selling the tranny because he needs a cable one. He'll give it to me for 750... maybe lower.
How will this tranny be with boost? I'm running 8-10 psi right now... and I'm going to build the motor for bigger boost ina few months... wouls the gears in ths tranny be too tall?
Also, do all type-r tranny's (JDM and otherwise) have LSD's?

I know it's 96+ tranny... I'll try to get the specific year.... but can you give me a breakdown of which would be better for boost? future high boost?
I've got a GSR tranny now.. they synchro's are starting to go. I'm thinking that if I could get that tranny for 600... that'd be a good deal... if it will not be too short of gears for a mid (and future high) boost application

well
my own knowledge tells me that acceleration is directly related to gear ratio. Its simple math (wheel spin aside) the higher the gear ratio the faster the car will accelerate. Of course there are a few factors that also come into play, but thats the basic idea. Depending on how much power you plan on making and what slicks you plan on running can give you an idea (not specific) on what tranny to use.

If it is a 98 ITR tranny then you can still use it but the FD might be a little higher then you want. Go for it either way if you can get for 600 bux. There are a few ITR owners on here and a couple from Japan that have JDM ITR's and they have no complaints (Miraiz comes to mind).

so, if it haves the 98 FD, then the radios would effectivele become too short for boost (heavy boost in the future)? If its earlier than a 98.. would it be a good upgrade (gear-ratio wise)?
In other words: will it be better for me to rebuild my GSR and install an LSD or get an ITR (that is/isn't a '98) for the 1/4?
