Default Twin Disc Street Driveability

This question goes out to any/all running a twin disc clutch on their cars. How is the drivability on the streets? I have been told by some that its impossible to drive on the street, while others have said it wasn't too bad. Just wanting some opinions, also toss out what brand you are running too please

I don't have a trailer, so I have to drive to and from the track, and do alot of cruising with mine, it's not bad. I mean it's basically on or off, doesn't have much slip at all, but you kinda just get used to revin it out as you pull off. I personally liked my comp. clutch stage 5 unsprung over the twin disc, as far as the street is concerned, but like I said it's not bad at all once you get used to it. I guess it depends on how you drive, if you need slippage,it's not for you, BUT there is no problem with driving it on the street.

Im running the exedy twin disc. Basically youll never need another clutch, and if you do, you just need to replace the discs, so you can't go wrong with it. Works for me on the street, and is BY FAR the baddest clutch for the track. Ive been cruising streets and running @ events and test n tunes EVERY friday for about 2 years now on the same clutch, @ just over 500hp.

Hope that helps some.......

Thats the kind of answers I am looking for. I am shooting for 750+whp on high boost for track events and 500ish for regular street use (I know anything over 300whp is overkill, so what!!) lol. Just wanting to make sure I am not going to eliminate the street driving part by going with a twin disk.

Anyone running a LSD Motorosports twin disc?

i have driven my buddy's spec twin disk and it's pretty nice. I just ordered mine last friday and it came in yesterday, so i'll be putting it in tomorrow or the next day. He drives his integra alot, mainly a dd. I drive my car to and from the track, out on the weekends, and all over the place.

wtf are you talking about...

As for the pedal stop... Its to keep the Spring from interfering with the top disks hub (it actually protrudes toward the spring to utilize as nuch as the input shaft splines as possible) when the TOB depresses it. I had no issues with it on my car. Makes the pedal travel shorter allowing for "shorter" shifts though due to decreased travel.... when adjusted correctly.

I have been using twin disc setups for 10+ years without any issues. The new OS and ORC twin setups actually have a softer pedal feel than their super single setups. Once you learn the catch point it's all gravy from there.

I just received my CC twin disk, but I was wondering how it would feel with a omni master cylinder?

CC twin here as well, street driven 99% of the time its out. Very comfortable clutch to drive imo. The engagement point takes a brief few moments to get use to but once you understand where it is to control how fast you feed out the pedal, its cake. Pedal feel is better than any single plate or anything else I have had.

I will never go with anything else but a twin and am very happy with my CC.

I thought twin discs were suppose to reduce pedal pressure while increase the plate pressure

pedal pressure was never an issue for me on my exedy twin, it was the harsh engagement that i didnt like. you get used to it, but it feels very abusive on the drivetrain. you have to blip the throttle on downshifts not very optional, stop and go sucks, i let off the clutch at 100mph in fourth from an idle and locked the tires up.

on my first transmission 1st gear started to **** the bed and i couldnt get it into gear even at a complete stop, had to start in second that sucked on a twin disk.

We installed a clutch masters twin the other day, I had never had any experience with any of their products but pedal feel was great, not too stiff and it was very easy to take off, slipping it was cake. It was no different than driving a 4 puck setup with a stiff plate on the street.

No pedal stop was used fyi, although we completely intended on installing one by the time it was said it done we didn't see a need for it.

To add to my input as well, no pedal stop here either. Was intending to put one in but once the clutch was in and I tested it I did not feel there was a need. I verified that by letting some others check it and they agreed it was not needed.
