Default turbonetics turbos suck!!!

yeah i go to kwai yesterday becasue my car has been smoking a little bit more than it should. I am just paranoid about my car and take it in for every little thing. well when i got there my car was smoking bad. the turbo is less than a year old with less than 8k miles on it. we thought since the turbo was so new how could it be that... so we checked comp...180-180-180-180 ok thats perfect.... so then pull the plugs look for oil.... nothing..... finally take the dp off and on the exhaust side of the turbo there is shiny black stuff.... looks like oil, tastes like oil, smells like oil...must be oil.

i ordered a new turbo last night.
i will be selling my turbonetics after they rebuild it.

i noramlly would not bash a product but i hear nothing but complaints lately about turbonetics. they used to be a really good company from what i hear but lately quality has gone down the shiter

precision turbo will now be getting my money
i was thinking the percision that is equal to a to4e 60-1
any coments

cliffnotes: turbonectics turbo failed ....going with precision

just to let everyone know as well...

benson at kwai is really going the extra mile with this...
he is ordering the new turbo today which i got a good price on...
and installing it asap... also for a very very very good price.
the reason for the rush is that there is an event coming up may 15th that i wanted to be a part of.

so it might cost me some $$$ to get it running in time but well worth it imo

so to benson at kwai....

Not only did their products go down the drain , their customer service sucks also that's why I choose Innovative Turbos for all my customers.

that turbo will make that power easy, if you only want 400whp you might want to look into one alittle smaller for more of a faster spool. i personally run a sc52

From what I hear, Precision SC50 is perfect for a B16A

Sorry *edit* 0.63 A/R housing... this is what I will be going with this winter.

a guy here with a supra just went through 3 straight precision pt67's... every company in the world is going to have some flawed products. I dont think its fair to say turbonetics sucks becuause your turbo's seals (im guessing thi sis your problem) are leaking. How was your return setup etc...?

My Turbonetics T3/T04B ran fine for 3 years, and I got it second-hand. I think it's about 10 years old(it's from the very first generation of DRAG kits ). Anyway, I got it rebuilt last year while it was off for smog, and it came back looking brand new(thanks cheapturbo.com ), and I put about 1k miles on it until I threw a rod . I guess Turbonetics isn't what it used to be.

for sure, i have a friend that just put a drag gen 3 kit on his gsr. it came with a turbonetics turbo and his car wont boost at all, we've checked everything else out and we've narrowed it down to the turbo. brand new turbo I might add

Often times the turbo should be the last thing to blame. About 95% of oil leaking issues I've seen are due to an improper oil feed/drain system (user error).

It's not right to blame the maker of the turbo if you have a problem like this which could (and probably is) not the fault of the turbo. Turbonetics have had their issues in the last few months, but things are starting to get back to normal lately. And even if the turbo had a problem, the 1 year no fault/no hassle warranty covers the rebuild for no charge. That doesn't seem too bad to me.
