Um sure, go spend $4000 on a kit just to make under 200hp you go do that. I think the setup I described will be very reliable (if installed, maintained and tuned correctly of course) and be plenty for what he is trying to accomplish.

If you don't have anything constructive to say don't post. The bandwagon of haters on h-t nowadays is horrible....

you dont have to spend $4k to get a decent turbo setup....if 200whp is all you want, you could do that for less than $2k, or even $1k for that matter......its all in the parts you buy and where you buy them....

check out http://www.homemadeturbo.com and you'll find out quickly how to make a turbo setup for very little money

To all those with helpful information, thanks again for taking the time to inform me about the subject. It is very much appreciated and I am slowly piecing together in my head what I want to do.

*(read my name.. obviously i know nothing...)
This is MY personal experence...
*(i lost my first HKS in a card game...long story)
i have bought a E-bay turbo kit... spent $600.00 total....
here is what i got...

Frontmount
t3t4 turbo (XSpower)
BOV (XSpower)
makeshift turbo piping
wastegate & down pipe(XSpower)

out of all that i can tell you honestly what is good/fair and what is crap...
BOV-Piping-Wastegat are WORTHLESS... BUT the turbo spools surprisingly strong and gives a great pull, and the front mount does its job no questions asked... the motor it is boosting is a Gsr head / B20 bottom ( Scat forged pistons, Eagle H beam rods, NO SLEEVES ) here are a few specs from my last dyno run @ Church Auto in Long Beach...

9.58 Boost
201 lbft
228.3 HP
112 MPH
5896 rpm

DYNO was stopped cause my stock fuel pump just could not keep up.
now the stock fuel pump is dead and i am replacing with Walbro 255 for the FI needs...
not really numbers i would brag about... since the end result isnt much better then a nice N/A set up...but none the less... this is being done on a "EBAY TURBO KIT" ... if the fuel pump was a high performance pump...Shawn said the motor would pull 320 easy RELIABLE DAILY DRIVER. from experence, its all in your tune my friend... my plans for this car are a max of 320 hp Daily Driver... i will be happy with that UNTIL i get the block sleeved

the Ebay parts i replaced follow...
XSpower BOV > went to a Blitz
XSpower wastegate> trashed that and went a got a Tial...
went ahead and paid the extra money and had all the proper piping put in...
they say that 1 out of 7 of those ebay turbos are good... i count myself among the lucky few who are too cowardly to pop their hood and show off their XSPOWER!

I've only experienced the manifolds cracking, mainly on d-series, but that is without extra bracing and without turbo to block bracing. We have run the .50/.63 57-trim with good luck and the "T70" with good luck as well. We have a ssac 38mm wastegate with the "T70" setup and it holds boost rock solid. The 50mm tial-copy bov's are working very well too. The intercoolers, both size bar-plates they offer, work very well too. This is PERSONAL experience as well.

For my personal ls/vtec turbo setup I went ahead and bought an actual tial 38mm wastegate and I will be using a nice manifold (like peakboost or neukin), and a nice precision or garrett turbo but I will not hesitate to buy a ssac 50mm BOV (already have one actually), and one of their bar and plate intercoolers

forgot to mention... i have a XSpower Tubular manifold...
HUGE PEICE OF JUNK... im still using it since the only issue is the cracking... IME if you reinforce the weld around the bottom bracket... it will just crack above that... about 1 month ago my TIAL WASTEGATE FELL OFF just as i was exiting the freeway.... now wtf is that about... that POS is NOT reccomended... that manafold must be for experts only

the turbo i have as well it the T70... i cant say that i wouldnt have been happier with my HKS... but i can say that i am happy with my current ebay turbo...

Q: if i had the chance to do it all over again would i go ebay?
A: why not.... it works

i think the original crack on the manifold was prolly my fault to start with... opened the hood directly after a race on a VERY COLD night... bad mistake... i was hearing the steel crack like, " Whats that sound" i knew the next morning! but the manifold might have still been perfect if it wasnt for user error...(hence why i am the BOOSTNUB and YOU are NOT!)

I couldnt agree more, just cuss some nubskull blew 4K on his setup he bashes all the ebays stuff... my rex is built mostly of those parts some are name brand some arent... but as for the Manis... brace them against the block... try holding a 40lbs of turbo on a piece of pipe heated to 1200 degrees... what do you think will happen! they also whine about the turbo seals... well if its designed for 25psi of oil pressure and you dont use a restrictor and run 65psi, again what are you expecting. also worth noting, the greddy kits have had issues with missing parts and such as well so NOTHIN is perfect! as for this kids setup the Meutek manifolds are supposedly good, cost 90 bucks, and you can keep your AC, get a nice rebuilt 16 or 18G and you'll be all set. As for the piping, there are a few honda specific kits on EBAY! with the XS intercooler that are bead rolled and pre bent and are very nice pieces. for your setup go with the 2.25 hot pipes and 2.5 cold, should be a quick spool. As for me Im buying a "full race" ramhorn Mani and the 70 turbo, and Ill bet it will reach my 400+ hp goal, and if not, well Ill have 70% of the parts I need... replacing a turbo and mani isnt that bad, and if the whole kit cost less then then peakboost mani, theresnot too much to whine about! so be carefull about what you buy, but dont listen to ignorant fools who feel bad about spending too much
