Turbo, Hondata, and Full Throttle Shift Issues.
I am thinking this would be a deadly combination.
As far as I know hondata uses a fuel cut to drop rpms down when you do a full throttle shift.
With a turbo this would cause some serious detonation potential.
Am I right? Or does hondata use something like an ignition cut to limit rpms?
In hondata's little movie they say full throttle shifting is great for a turbo vehicle since the throttle plate doesn't close, and the turbo stays spooled........

So I take it no one uses the hondata full throttle shift feature on their boosted vehicle? That sucks....I really liked full throttle shifting.
i thought that because its cuts fuel completely that it was safe. without fuel there won't be any combustion and therefor no danger. is this untrue?
When you disengage the clutch the motor isn't under load anymore...so leaning out from the fuel being removed shouldn't hurt anything.

Get an MSD 6AL and use the soft touch (cuts spark).. bounce off the limiter all day if you want.

I think you might be confusing sitting on the rev limit with the full throttle shift.
A fuel cut is used. During a full throttle shift the fuel is shut off completely until the engine drops about 2000 rpm.
Sitting on the rev limit under boost with a fuel cut is not a good idea as the the engine is only dropping a few hundred RPM before switching on the fuel again, a much shorter period of time, and more prone to leaning.

So is it safe to use the hondata full throttle shift (FTS) and launch limiter features with a turbo car or will it cause the engine to go lean and have issues? I'd rather stay in boost than deal with lag

You could always run eCtune its got the option to do fuelcut, ignition cut, or a combination of both.. For normal rev limit, FTL,FTS, and antilag. Having ignition cut makes antilag more affective as well.

You can set Hondata's rev limit to cut both fuel and ignition. I don't use the FTS, it's not like you're going to be on the rev limiter for extended period amounts of time.

What mixture? You'd have just air in the cylinder for that cycle. Sequential port injection, you're either going to have fuel or not for each firing impulse..not a lean condition.
