Default turbo f22

so i was thinking about what to do with my P.O.S. accord that i just bought from my dad for $500... i sold my gti for 2600 so i have some money to spend to make the accord a little less gay. i was considering an engine swap but i did some research and learned that the f22 is good for boosting because of its low compression. ive done some research and this is what im planning for a budget build:
ebay intercooler
ebay charge piping
ebay BOV
turbo: RHB5 from a Subaru or Probe - 8psi

i need some advice from you guys who are the experts....
what kind of manifold do you recommend?
what kind of ECU would you recommend?

just some quick basic thoughts for you... sorry at work so dont have time to go into great detail.

hondata/ p28 ecu is what I run on my f22 and what I would recommend. you could also run crome or neptune or other various forms of honda ecu based management. depending on what year you have (obd1 or obd2), the ecu swap could be pretty straight forward (obd1, just have to swap a couple wires) or a little more work (obd2, requiring a conversion to obd1). also take it to a good tuner for sure who is familar with your choice of management. I would not cheap out here as tuning and managment is probably one of the most critical areas.

as for that turbo choice, meh... imo is far undersized unless your looking for more noise than power increase. I would suggest something like a big 16g from an evo, t25 from a dsm, or whatnot along those lines... you can find them relatively cheap and its large enough to have some fun and yet spool VERY quickly.

for a manifold you have a couple cast choices that would work well for a basic setup with the dsm turbos i suggested above. just search on google and you should be able to find them easily (i dont have links offhand sorry).

also think about fuel setup, you could probably get by on a stock pump but honestly I would spend the 90 or 100 to put a walbro in it. injectors will be needed too, find some good 450cc dsms (between 40-60 bucks) and since you have a resistor box already (accords came with them) you can drop them in with minimal work (you have to bore the stock honda lower seal a little). your going to need to make a downpipe up too for whatever your combination ends up being so plan for that. plan in some funds for oil lines, misc fittings, couple basic gauges maybe, etc that i am probably missing or small stuff.

oh and i not a big fan of knockoff ebay parts cause their low quality and i dont like to support those companies in general but the parts you suggest getting from there should hold up decent for a budget small turbo build. you might also try shoping around the classifieds here for deals on parts as well to save money.

Hey there. I have my 96 accord boosted. For your ecu, it depends if it's vtec or non-vtec. Like tweakd said, p28 is one of your choices if your car has vtec. If you don't have vtec, the p06 is one that you could use. As for the turbo of choice, I am using a Garrett T3 Super 60 .42/.63 a/r from vsracing.net. I got mine for roughly $450. I wanted to do a cheap dsm turbo setup, but their manifolds use a different porting than our f22b1/2 motors. The f22a's could fit the dsm manifold if they redrilled the holes since their ports matched up. You can still use a 16g and save yourself some money if you want by using a t3 to 16g manifold-to-turbo adapter. The adapter is like $50 i think. I am using a log manifold from Spoolinperformance.com. I liked the position of their wastegate better than some other companies that would just leave it right at cylinder 4. It's a nice bang for the buck manifold. I'm using a Tial 38mm btw.
I've been fine with ebay piping and intercoolers. They do the job fine. As for any other product, I would steer clear. My bov is a Forge Twin. It does the job perfect and is a nice $50-80 cheaper than a Greddy RS or an HKS. Sounds great. Since it's not seated by a flange, I bought a T-coupler which has a 1" slot that the bov sits in. You can find them on ebay, but i got mine from treadstoneperformance.com.
As for fueling, I'm using 450cc injectors of a dsm. Just make sure to have them flow tested before installing to make sure they're still up to par. Mine may be on their way out so I might be ordering a set from RC or Precision soon. You may be able to get away with the stock fuel pump. I did until now and i'm now ordering a Walbro. It's only $100 and will give you good piece of mind.
Stealthmodeperformance.com has a nice kit for oil lines at a nice price. Gauges are up to you. I have afr, boost, and oil psi. The AEM UEGO is one of the lower cost ones, but you can't recalibrate them. There is a whole thread on here for wideband kits with a poll so i would check that out. I forgot to mention earlier, but DON'T SKIMP ON TUNING. Pay someone who knows what they're doing to have it done right. You can put all your 2600 in this and lose it all b/c of a poor tune.
I think that covers just about everything other than exhaust. Good luck if you do this project. Hopefully this helps without being to repetitive lol.

I made over 300 WHP on a bone stock f22b1 for over 40k miles before trying to blow it up once my built motor was done... TWKD95CD5 was the only other guy making more than me at that time on the stock block. I had

t3/04e 57trim 60/63
880 precisions
(otherwise ALL STOCK FUEL SYSTEM, even PUMP)
2.5" Charge Piping
LSD MOtorsports SHort ram Manifold
Tial BOV
Tial 38mm WG with 6 PSI spring (Ran 10 psi for 250/260... 16 PSI for 305/307)
stock map for 10-11 PSI then put a 3bar on it.
ebay 2.5X9X27" FMIC

Tuned on Crome pro...

Id go with ECTune nowadays. IT ROCKS!!!!

For manifold IS it a F22Ax or Bx if its a Bx your gonna have to find a manifold, if itws a AX you can use stock DSM manis or aftermarket ones... I know someone who has a SFP manifold for sale for a F22Ax... Its not half bad.

Spend some money on a good clutch. ALso If you swap out the accord mid shaft for a prelude one, you can run 4th or fifth gen H series Prelude axles... I make overr 600 WHP on them with over 10K miles on em... CHEAP upgrade... BUt use OEM, no Schicks or Action "rebuilt OEM" find a good set in a Junkyard that dont look too beat.

Ive been on the same set for a year in the CD5.

as for the manifold im having some difficulty finding a good one...im looking for a log style for under $200 if possible. Ebay manifolds are cheap and some have so called "Life time warranties" are those sh** like i suspect or are they alright?

Yep, ebay ones are crap, spend a little more and be happy in the long run. We make something for the f, check out our site in the sig.

now im thinking about not trying to piece together a turbo kit, instead i am considering buying the treadstone kit: http://www.treadstoneperformance.com...ura+Turbo+Kits seeing as how i dont have a whole lot of mechanical experience and i dont have the skills to fabricate parts, would i be better off just buying this kit for $1900?

I use the Treadstone kit and highly recommend it.

You will need to fabricate a downpipe though.

I make good power but my set up is probably more suited to make much more power. If your looking at making under 280hp then go for the T3 option.

so far ive purchased almost everything for my build except the turbo because of issues with the website i was planning on ordering it from.

treadstone manifold-$300
treadstone ic piping-$300
ebay bov-$30
ebay 2.5 catback with rice pipe-$120
ebay intercooler-$70
stealthmode oil line kit-$85
treadstone air filter-$25

i decided to not order some of the ebay parts i had planned on ordering before...but i am a little concerned about the BOV. has anyone heard of any problems with those running low boost?
