Default Turbo CBR 600

What do you think is the best way to go for a turbo CBR 600 i am looking to run about 6-8psi of boost and i am going to get a motor for fuel injection already on it from the factory i have turbo on my b16 now and went with hondata for that. but for a bike motor do you think a FMU and check valves is the way to go for low level boost.

let me know what you guys think.

why? That motor will grenade so fast it wont even be funny, the motor produces around 110 hp stock, this from .6l and at what 13,500 rpm? The motor will have to be from an f4i or 600rr and that would be a mess, its a n/a wonder, just leave it.

That's nothing... I know a guy in south Florida who turbos alot of GSXR1000's, Hayabusas, etc... usually wins the HP shootout in Daytona...

His bikes are usually making 300-385whp on stock blocks... insane stuff. I went riding with him and a bunch of other people about 2 1/2 years ago on I-95.. he was on a customers boosted ZX12 that he boosted.. in 5th gear he casually rolled the throttle back and the front wheel lifted up at about 120, insane ****.

then just recently i was watchin something on discovery channel about the salt flat racing. he had his bike on there and had to tune it down to around 320whp cuz it would break loose on the flats. He winded up doing like 230mph or something near to it......... crazy

Holy insane!!! How much power do you need?

Is it even possible to utilize that kind of power on a bike?

I would like to see any vids of turbo bikes if anyone has any!!

Yeah my thoughts exactly. If you are mid corner and the turbo spools up, you are sooo fucked. I drove ONE turbo bike EVER and it was all I needed to make me give up on FI on bikes.

well i am not going to leave the motor in the bike it will go in a car like this

The car is made from the ground up every year frame and all. My buddy Dave and I did all the carbon panels and carbon steering wheel for the car. the car weights 478lbs. and has a air shifter with buttons on the wheel we made that GSX-R motor fuel injected but i want to use a factor fuel injection for cheaper cost report and then run a FMU or something like urbindata or something to that effect.

Oh boy. I will be doing a similar project in a few years.

You should look into the variable vane turbos, they do a VERY good job in low boost, lower airflow conditions.

Something the size of a T-25 is as large as you would want to go on one of those things, and that would be rediculously huge.

Keep in mind that your maximum airflow is somewhere in the 13-14 lb/min range, so you can size the turbo accordingly. The tiny restrictor makes the engine behave much differently than you would expect. You're looking for a VERY tiny turbo.

Fuel management is going to be difficult, you really shouldn't use a FMU. Some sort of programmable aftermarket thing is really a necessity. We use Haltech's here (WPI, Mass.), but there are tons of other options avaliable.

yeah garette gives the teams two turbos so that is what i will be using the only problem is the rules make you put the 19mm restrictor before the turbo so you have to suck through the restrictor. but we are going to use e-85 i think too for fuel because it has oxygen in the fuel.

i found the perfect size turbo for a bike the other day in a junk yard, it was on a turbo geo prism, it was the inlet was about 1 1/2 inches, too tiny for a car, but would be interesting to see on a bike

If you run E85, you have to run a smaller size restirctor, which compensates for any extra oxygen you will get out of the fuel. They do this for a reason, so that E85 users don't have an unfair advantage.

i really wish i could put one of those little turbos on a leaf blower. i'd be the envy of the neighborhood! and fall cleanup would be much faster! i wonder if it's really possible. i did see a turbocharged bar stool once.

the year past the E-85 turbo restrictor was 18mm last year they made it to 19mm with a turbo. if you go with gas N/A you get a 20mm i am not sure what gas is with a turbo but i think it is 19mm too. so it is like they want us to run E-85.

Any gas car, with a turbo or without, has to run a 20mm restrictor.

Any E85 car, with a turbo or without, has to run a 19mm restrictor.

i still belive you are better off with the E-85 because it is so much cooler of a fuel in temp. and you can add more advance to the timming.

The order also has to go throttle, restrictor, compressor, engine. I was just thinking about this, but wouldn't there be a slight vacuum created every time you let off the throttle as air stopped coming in and the compressor kept spinning? Just thought it was strange that they specified things had to be in that order.
