Default turbo and altenator

hey guys, do you guys know if the turbo in my car has any connection with the altenator? my car wouldnt start once in a while, and my mechanic told me that it was the altenator. i dont know if i just have a bad altenator, because it is a 96 gsr, so it has been a while. but my mechanic told me that the warranty wont be valid because i turboed my car. i just dont want to pay $350 for him to install it and just have to reinstall a new one later on. do i need a larger altenator, or a new stock altenator from honda be fine? please help, my mechanic has my car and i really need it back. thanks guys for any info.

install a new alternator your self.

stock alternator is fine unless you have a stereo system draws lots of power.

i just have a 10' sub, turbo timer, a/f, boost gauge. will this suck up too much power? do you know if the turbo spooling will affect the altenator?

A 10' sub? j/k

Stock alt should have enough juice for all that, but if you're worried get a voltmeter and make sure!

Just check the brushes and see if they are worn. If they are replace them. Its alot cheaper than replacing the alternator.

brushes? is it on my altenator? cuz the mechanic says that my altenator doesnt look worn. but do you guys know if the turbo spinning will affect the altenator, because he said that the turbo is spinning too fast for the altenator. is this true??

Ok, let me be the first to put it simply:

The alternator being bad and/or going bad has nothing at all, in any way, at all to do with the turbo... at all.

Your turbo should'nt have anything to do with your alt. http://www.acuraautomotivepart...y.jsp The brushes are #3 in that link. Theyre very easy to replace. You should ask your mechanic exactly whats wrong with your alt. And go from there.

Your mechanic sounds like he needs a ... the turbo and the alt aren't even on the same side of the engine
