Tunning Boost for Street
What would be the prefered a/f ratio when tunning for street use on 94 octane gas??? I want to push as far as I can, but I just want some recommendations before I start doing anything.

Re: Tunning Boost for Street (Screamer)
... i have seen between 11:1 and 12:1 is both reliable and strong... and ~12:5 being a little more aggressive... correct me if i am wrong cuz i'd like to know for sure also... thanks...

Re: Tunning Boost for Street (1.8T_EG)
it also depends on the motor, CR, etc.

Re: Tunning Boost for Street (Screamer)
we tuned mine for out of boost for like 14.5 or so , for gas mileage, and in boost for like 12.1-12.5 for safety.
i get decent gas mileage if i stay outta boost and make pretty good power seeming that my exuast is cloggin me down a bit |
I would tune for 11.5-12.0 and retard about .75 deg per pound of boost to keep it safe...and around 14.5 out of boost as stated above.

Re: (BlueSi2k)
12.0:1 is plenty to keep it safe, .5 degree per pound of boost is plenty safe. Set up the car close to 12:1 air/fuel and run 1 degree per pound of boost till you get to the dyno. That is basically what I do when i tune on the street.

Re: Tunning Boost for Street (RAWB)
Ya, we are quite lucky here in Canada with the 94 octane gas.
I hope I can get as close to 425whp (my goal) as it is possible without going with race gas. Is there anyone out there that has hit these numbers or anywhere close??? |
Re: Tunning Boost for Street (Screamer)
Brokenvtec was around 400whp on pump gas at 12psi with his set-up. I should be around 450whp on pump gas with my set-up at 15psi. It can be done. If you arent running a 2.0 Liter bore, I doubt its going to happen.

Re: Tunning Boost for Street (boosted hybrid)
What type of turob are you running to hit such high hp levels with such low boost??? What about your friend? I am also guessing he has a 2L block as well?
