Default Tuners-Running lean after 6k.

So my friend has a turbo prelude that I was tuning the other day. I actually finished street tuning it quite awhile ago. He had a few issues he needed to take care of like fixing some oil leaks, and etc..You know the typical lil things that need to be taken care off with a new build.

Well after fixing all the lil leaks and what not he contacted me to hit the dyno. So while we were on the dyno his car would go straight lean after 6k. No matter what I did via AEM EMS with the fuel his car would not add fuel. The guys at velocity monitored the Fuel Pressure and they told me that the fuel pressure gauge was holding steady.

Today we hit the street and I wanted to try a few more things, and same thing happened. I do actually have a log that shows that at 6k the AF was okay, but after that it started to skyrocket again. Then took another log, then at 6k it was not okay anymore.

I am thinking it must be the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator. His walbro is much much louder in his prelude than in my civic. I don't even hear the damn thing in my civic. So I just wanted to get some more opinions. I didn't have a spare fuel pump or a stock FPR so I have yet to really get into it. Just thought I would get some opinions. My friend and I have a pretty hectic work schedule coming up so we have some time before we start actually taking things apart and woking on it again.

Here is a log as well as a screenshot of his fuel map.

BTW this is a 1992 Honda Prelude with a Drag Gen 3 kit. He is running some injectors he got from Camp1320.00. Sieman Deca 756cc Injectors. His duty cycle was in check and the right battery offset was put in the calibration. It's a 3ohm injector and the Prelude should already have a injector box installed.

Sorry bro, but I have only had a success with the AEM EMS. This isn't a AEM issue. I've done the hondata route and will never go back. Unless a friend or customer of mine has one that needs tuning.

They are not that old, cause the car has been down. My friend got a fucked up motor from Buck02 on here and we had to have another motor built by EARL "Thank you for a great motor Earl"

So the injectors are practically brand new cause I have yet to put any miles on either of his setups due to that **** can engine that he got. If worse comes to worse, I will take those injectors out and put my 880's in there for him to use. So we can see if that is the problem. It was raining here in Seattle so it wasn't the best day to do anything.

i had this issue with a customer car a couple weeks ago, he said it had a walbaro in it. But when the 900cc injectors hit over 100% duty cycle at 350whp i knew something was up ha, damn stock pumps

could be a some particals inside the injector filter. This customer had 550cc and a wideband tuned for a while. Then one week it started going lean. I replaced 550cc for 750cc retuned on 18psi and on the dyno the 750cc managed to get something in the filter from the fuel line after the turbo.

I'll check everything over. I hate these lil obstacles. When you think you have done everything right. I feel bad for my friend since he has been down for soo long. So hopefully we can figure this out once our schedules allow us to work on the car on a good day.

Wow, who in their right mind would actually say to get the S300 over AEM? hahahah I guess the S300 is better than autronics too?

Anyways, I had the same problem a few weeks back and did the following:
1.) Replaced the fuel filter, for $5 I couldn't say no (but that wasn't it)
2.) Replaced the fuel pump but that wasn't it. I went from the 255lph, to the 255hp. It reduced the injector duty cycle by almost 30% but they were still maxing out.
3.) Check the injector duty cycle with a Fluke 88.
4.) Check the fuel pump voltage with a voltmeter. All I did was hold the contacts to the wires and had the only guy I trust with my car (my tuner) do a quick pull on the dyno. My went up to 13.8-14.0 and held there so I knew that wasn't the problem.
5.) I sent out the Precision 1000's and had Precision test them. the results were: ~550, 700, 900, 950. Soooo since 3 of the 4 were bad I bought 3 new injectors from them. Some how the plastic seat that goes on the rail looked like it was melted or something. Even Precision was stumped as to what happened because I they told me they have only seen that like 3 other times and have yet find any common links between us.
6.) If none of the above, have someone watch the fuel pressure. This is what happened to me. I was maxing out 1000's at 60psi base pressure and putting out 350-400whp. What happened was the fuel pressure was good during normal driving and up to 0" vaccum. As soon as it went into boost, the fuel pressure started falling. By the end of the run, the pressure had dropped to 16psi haha.

Hope this helps.
