Default tubular manifold compatibility ?

I couldn't find just the answer I was looking for anywhere on here..so i'll just post this and ask.

I have a 98 GS and have a Drag Gen III turbo kit. If I replace the Drag manifold, for a tubular one...will my downpipe still work and will i be able to use the drag intercooler piping ? or will i have to get some custom stuff done ?

the short answer is no. Unless a tubular manifold is made as a direct replacement for the drag your going to need some custom work

None that I know of.. Maybe the spark stuff is.. I was just saying it would have to be purpose built as a direct replacement..

yea maybe a spark one will come close, but it wont be dead on .
usuallt tubular ones will bring the turbo away from the block more.
just mod the dp a little, shouldnt be too bad depending on the manifld.

Well thats just it I would not pay for a spark one. I would stick with your drag setup till you can afford a nice tubular and a 3" dp to go with it. There are several ac compatable versions and there is soon to be another..

If you get a spark manifold get ready to brace it. You will have more problems in the long run. Just get a really good tubular manifold. The SST from lovefab.com is affordable and just get the right downpipe for your setup. The downpipes are only 175.00 bux. You will have a beefy manifold that will flow well and is made out of a much thicker material.

well i guess the lovefab mani will probably be my choice then. I dont have to worry about ac compatibility...becuz i have already removed that from my car. is there a variety of downpipes i can choose frm at lovefab ? i'll have to check them out. I still have the t3/t4 from the drag kit, and i am going to use it, but it has that weird 5 bolt pattern on the exhaust. i will either have to get a flang and weld it to the new d.p. or get one that is already setup for that.

thanks again for the wealth of info here.

The downpipe will already have a 5 bolt flange welded onto it.
