Trans/axle Noise
I'm getting some noise when i first start accelerating. It sounds like its coming from where the axles connect to the transmission. Any time i move from a stop (forward or reverse) i get a metallic popping or creaking until there's a load on the drive train then its gone. I don't think its a cv joint because it goes away once moving.
Trying to figure out what it was i jacked up the front of the car to try and simulate the noise by rotating a wheel in forward and reverse but it didn't produce any noise. I did notice there was a good amount of play until the wheel 'grabbed' making the opposite wheel spin. Maybe like a 1/4 turn back and fourth. Is that normal? I've never paid much attention.
I faintly remember hearing a similar noise before i turboed but it wasn't nearly as loud.
Car is making 400hp 280tq, stock trans and axles.

sounds like your differential is getting a bit worn out. My sohc trans does the same thing. kinda what happens when you triple the stock power output through it. wear and tear
I get a definable underbody clunk when starting from halt (esp if there are no load on the drive train to begin with). I jacked the car up when I had my coolant change and rotated the shaft/wheel. When I jerk it, I can hear the same noise but not as loud on the area where the shaft meets onto the diff. This is on the right side btw.
I don't care if my diff is rooted as I'm changing it to LSD soon. I don't think that it would the CV joint because when they give out they give constant click when turning. There was a thread on the accord section where the bloke said the shaft where loose 'axially' so it would move in/out direction towards/away from the engine thus making a clunk.
Any insights peeps???
