Throttle leak Fixable?
hi guys, my throttle is leaking by both sides of the shaft and is causing over boost issues. There's a way to repair it or I need to replace it.
thanks

I think he's talking about the shaft that the butterfly is mounted.
Apparently the holes to the TPS and the opposite end have huge significant gaps that are causing overboost.
I can not imagine how that is even possible.

Ok, I'm having overboost and bog issues and a friend recommend made a smoke test to find boost/vacuum leaks when I fill the system with smoke the throttle leak by the TPS and behind cable plate.
I'm pretty sure every vehicle has the shaft going through the body. I can't imagine these tiny gaps there are anything to worry about. The volume of air passing through them is tiny... well, unless your TB is worn severely and that shaft is bouncing around in there.
I would be looking at other possible issues.

How would leaking boost cause an over boost situation? If your wastegate was sourcing pressure pre throttle body then it would under boost, if it was sourcing post throttle body then you wouldn't even notice any pressure loss.
thanks wantboost and Muckman, Yes my boost source is pre throttle, so I keep looking for other option for the bog situation and check my boost controller hoses for the overboost.

yea because all throttle bodies have a small gap between the shaft and bore. this is so the shaft can turn. if it was an interference fit the shaft would never turn. also the gap is there to allow the aluminum body to expand and contract with heat.
stock tb's don't have bearings on the shaft IIRC. most aftermarket units have ball bearings on both ends for smoother operation and to seal off the shaft bore to prevent leaks
what tb are you using?

I can take it tomorrow right now here are 10.00 pm.
But it's simple and worked fine for 3 years.
From turbo compressor to bottom port of voodoo manual controller from side port of controller to side port of the wastegate.
hold 18 psi always, suddenly start to hit boost cut. I already check the wastegate diaphragm .

Thanks, I replace yesterday all vacuum hoses from the intake, wastegate and bypass.
Now I'm waiting for my Skunk2 Alpha 66mm Throttle and new thermal gaskets to start it and check.
