Default Thoughts on APEXi Super AVC-R Boost Controller

I am looking to buy a boost controller for my car. I was going to go with the greddy Profec B spec II but I read a lot of posts of people saying they have problems with it. I had a turbosmart DSBC in my car that got stolen and never had a problem with it. So I am thinking of either the APEXi Super AVC-R Boost Controller or a turbosmart or turbo XS b/c of less things to brake/go wrong.
What are your thoughts on the APEXi Super AVC-R Boost Controller? Is anyone running them are you having any issues with it or is it dependable?

I used it with my Civic, considering how bad the wastegate fluxed at higher boost levels I thought it did very well. I have a Profec B right now in my Teg but I'll probably go and get another AVC-R eventually. Datalogging boost is

Just bought one for my hatch, going from my profec b to the AVCR. The profec wont hold boost stable on the high channel, even with playing with all the overboost/internal wastegate buttons. This is not a common problem, but something I have been dealing with. I have tuned with several AVCR's, they are dead consistent at holding boost if you set them up properly. The learning mode is a great feature, and boost comes on rock solid and is held solid.

I've never owned a Profec B, but boosted hybrid nailed the pros of the AVC-R straight on. People will complain about how hard it is to tune, but it is actually pretty simple.

People overcomplicate the AVC-R. When looking at all the features it does look mind boggling, but once you figure out what really needs to be set its easy. Learning mode is great. It helps keep boost consistent and will adjust duty cycle. Running in the cold then warm weather your duty cycle will change and the AVC-R compensates for that. Definitely noticeable in the winter.

Basically set your boost, set duty cycle around 25-30% leaving some area higher or lower to put it in learning mode and go. Do a few pulls and check the duty cycle. It should be fixed accordingly. Make sure to monitor that you arent exceeding the target boost level or the learning mode won't set itself.

i've never owned one myself, but my friend who is good with electronics and a damn good mechanic had one on his car, and never got it working 100%. buyer beware if you have a past history of not being able to figure things out.

Yes, you can have gear dependant boost settings.

I've had the AVCR for over 3 years now and wouldn't trade it for anything else on the market. Boost is so stable in every gear. You won't be disappointed.

He got it from here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=646261 and beat me to it. I offered the guy a little less and the next thing I knew it was gone.

Good luck with it.

there was three for sale in the fi classifieds. Two used and the one you got. The one used one was missing a piece and sold for 230. The other one, I just do not feel confortable buying a used electronic piece.
