Default t3/t04e on a sohc??

well i know this is a big turbo, but just was wondering what yall thought about it on the d series. i had planned on doing this on a ls motor, but money is getting short and then i thought about just buying a d series manifold and throwing it on my d16y8. how bad do u think spool up would be. i only plan to run 7.5psi off the deltagate.

thats what im running. .60 trim with .48 ar on hot side. i get 12 lbs by 4k using a mbc. without the mbc, it would take till 6k. its on a built z6 though. the head is jg, so maybe its flowing better. i dunno. i take it to 9k
hit REAL hard, will throw you in your seat. drivabilty is quite nice

that's will take a while. i woudl definatly put a mbc on it for just the spool up factor. even if you just raise it like 1 psi, it still wont crack on open at low boost. i wouldnt expect it to spool till 4500 - 5k

That exhaust is what will hurt spool up the most, not the fact that you are boosting a D Series.

a t3/t4 is too big for a mild street d-series, imo.

and my 8lbs will probably make more power than your t3....

I usually dont shy away from the more extreme route on things but I would agree that for a stock d series block a large t3 is more ideal. I run a t3 .63/.60 on my stock block daily driver and it pulls till redline and can make plenty of power to blow the block to pieces if I tried so there is no need for anything more IMO as it would just mean increased lag. On my built d im running a t3/04b which is the minimum I want to run since I can actually push it to some decent power levels. Someone said that a t3 on D spools like a t3/t4 does on a b which seems about right from my experience. T3/t4 on a D must be more like a 60-1 or some of the larger turbos on a B if that same reasoning is worth anything.

ok before everyone pisses on my wheaties and starts flaming, i went the route i am going because i am gonna build the block soon i just need to get some financial **** cleared up and payed off right now.... i went n/a on my last car and it got ******* expensive so i am still paying for that.... but anyway, the reason i went big is because it will be more than just a mild d series motor in the near future!!!!

Absolutely! But I want my power band to be very broad because I auto X it so I need good response.

a 48 trim should do your D series just right.. quick spooling is what im about.. i got a 50 trim on my b18b..it spools at around 3400 rpm.. 48 trim should spool a bit sooner.. if u put something like a 60 trim it would take alot longer.. IMO stay away from big turbos on a small motor... just my 02 cents
