Default Sprayed Guys, Got A FPR Q..

I was wondering what all you other sprayed B series guys set your fuel pressure to? I realize 38 PSI is stock, but if I try to run below 46 PSI my car sorta feels 'boggy' or like it's lacking power; this is without spray. I don't spray much but when I did I was running 52-54 PSI and it felt alright, but I'm always hearing 'oh that's too high, you better turn it down'. But I can't.. Is this normal? I see many different setups running upwards 60 PSI so I didn't think it would be a problem. I'm using a Walbro 255 & B&M FPR. Could my FPR be a POS or maybe even my gauge be faulty? Should I invest in a better one? Thanks
