You can just cut the wires from your stock plug and connect them.

thats correct! i just got this fan 3 weeks ago and i must say that it is a BADASS fan! you will have to put a bigger fuse for the fan because the stock 20amp fuse will blow, im using a 30amp fuse and its fine now. definately get it!

I've been using Fal with mine because it has a shroud, but am very interested in this spal. it doesn't have a shroud but that would be cool to have some type of groupbuy for these fans and shrouds for the civic half rad. this fan moves alot more CFM than my Fal that's for sure.

We build a lot of shrouds for the Spal fan, and i'd do a big run of them but it won't fit with most people's setups.

Fitting the fan with a decent shroud takes up a fair amount of space.

I have a flex a lite and loathe it. Every time it comes on, I can feel it in the steering wheel, and if I'm idling at a certain rpm, it's vibration combines with the motor's vibration and creates a weird resonance that vibrates the whole car. Airflow inferiority aside, that's enough for me to want to change it right there. Why they don't balance them is beyond me.
Hopefully the spal doesn't do that..

Tony, if I could make mine fit and you know very well how cramped my engine bay is, why do you think it wouldn't fit most people's setups?

We went through a lot of effort to make your setup fit. Most people look at things the wrong way. They buy whatever they can find on the turbo side of things and the cooling system gets sacrificed and whatever fits is what they're left with. "that's all i can fit" is usually the mentality. The turbo system should be designed around the cooling system, not the other way around. It's much easier to fab and move turbo stuff than it is cooling stuff. A fan and a radiator are big, not a ton of places you can put them.

So when you says "most peolple's setups" you mean the big turbo stuff for the most part? If you thought my setup was tight before, I need to send you the pics of how it is now...

It's usually just something dumb like buying a manifold and downpipe from someone working on an engine stand in their garage. They get it in a car and the downpipe is RIGHT where the fan needs to go. Setups that could easily be built around a proper fan setup, they just aren't. Hell, most people can't even fit the FAL fan setup and the 13" spal with shroud takes up quite a bit more room.

I hear ya, I have been battling engine temps as long as the car has been boosted, so I was hellbent on making the fan fit. Came out good tho. Hopefully I can get home soon and drive the car around and post some results...

T1 can you give basic dimensions on your shrouds with the spal fans? FAL to my knowledge is the only one that supplies a shroud for there fans.....there's some Dough to be made. I'll admit, my FAL just doesn't move enough CFM. it works but there are improvements to be made. shoot I'll change around my set-up for better cooling. I even considered trimming my core support to move my radiator forward some and tuck it.

I would imagine each fan shroud is different depending on the radiator you have. Here is a pic of the shroud tony built for my C&R radiator. The fan in the pic is a 12" spal slim line rated for like 800cfm. It now has the spal high pefrormance 13" rated for 1710cfm. It is similar in size but the motor sticks out of the fan housing another 1.5" or so. I'll get a pic up of that later.

Dude, if I can make it fit, u can make it fit. Get the 13", you won't regret it. The 12 is only rated for 1300ish cfm...

I'm sure this will work, but i would be concerned with the wires and stock relay getting very hot. I used a relay and 10 ga wires to be sure. The stock wires are only capable of delivering so much current and probably won't give you maximum performance out of the fan.
