Default some assembly questions

its time to assemble my ls block tonight for my ls vtec turbo build. ive got the torque specs of 28# on the rods which have the arp2000 bolts on them. do i need to torque them 3 times like some people say, to compensate for stretch. does that mean to torque and then loosen competly, repeat? do i have to torque them in one clean sweep or can i tighten the 2 in equal intervals till i get to 28. seems like it wouldnt matter.

now for the main bearings, i tighten to 22 or 23 and then torque to 56 for the final torque but what sequence is there for tightening these. or does it even matter since the caps arent all connected to eachother?

and one last thing. what is the bearing clearance range for the rod bearings and the main bearings. im using eagle rods, ls crank. i would like to have them closer to the looser side of things if possible. (in MM please, not inches! thanks!)

Why don't you buy a manual? Looks like you need one. The ARP's should have come with instructions for tightening.

arps came in the rods and there is no torquing instructions included but i know they are 28 foot pounds. i already established that. i really just need to know the clearance range in MM for the rod and main bearings.

id aim for about .015-.017 on the bearing clearances and as far as the torquing of the rod bolts go...if your gonna be plastigauging for clearances the rod bolts are going to be retorqued at least once as it is so i wouldnt worry about that

You have a micrometer and dial bore gauge? You can check bearing clearances with those.

i plastigauged my main bearings today. i feel like these things dont say much, but with that said. 1-5 on the bottom and top all fell within the .001 inches range on the gauge or .025mm. the plasti was just small enough to fit in that range

i only said it was in the range, it wasnt quite at both edges of that range. so i say its around .003 or .004, but then again i dont know how much more width difference changes the measurement. they are ACL bearings, so they are all GREEN Sized. im gonna go look up the specs tonight, i have the spec sheet, but i didnt have time to compare. had to leave.

whoever told me 28 or 29 foot pounds for my eagle rods was a dumb ****, and i looked through honda-tech and there a lot of people giving those specs. i looked over the sheet that came with eagle. i have 3/8 thread size, to make sure i got a 3/8 socket and put the threads in it and it was a perfect fit. then i looked and i have 7/16 head size, and they are arp2000, according with eagle, its 43 foot pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 28 just didnt feel right anyways, im glad i double checked.
