Default sc61 vs gt35

i was on the phone with precision turbo the other day and they told me that the garrett gt35 turbo would "act" just like the precision sc61, but with more hp. (they claimed the same spool time).

from their site:
GT-35 exhaust side
wheel diameter: 71, 76mm
wheel trim: 52 A/R 0.50, 0.60

compressor side
Wheel diameter 68mm
wheel trim 84 A/R 1.18

SC61 exhaust side:
wheel diameter: 61mm
wheel trim 56
A/R .48 or .63
compressor side:
wheel style T04
A/R .69 , .76

These look way too 'different' to act the same. Was the guy i was talking to full of ****? or is there some truth in what he's saying. Any other comments are welcome.

Thanks in advance

the spec's you posted are like you said spec's don't forget these guy's could build t 2 different turbo's and they will make same simular power, we ran a gtq 72 last year good for 900 hp this year we are going to run a gt42 with a 70 trim that will make up to 1100 hp and the compressor wheel's are different and of those turbo's there are only 7 right now and they retail for 3000.00. so give them a call back and ask to speak with harry and have him explain it to you tell him willie from deepstage had you call again you will be satisfied.

I see your confusion. You are looking at the wrong one on the site. First of all, the turbo they were talking about is the GT35E61 that they are comparing it the SC61. The GT35E61 uses the same compressor as the SC61 which is the GT40 56 trim compressor wheel.

The GT35 is not the same as the GT35E61 that is listed on the website.

Hope this helps..

Thank you, you nailed it. I thought the GT35 on the site was simply the GT35E. all is clear now.

turbo96wr, thank you for your offer but i wont need to call them, now that i understand whats going on.

BTW if either of you sell precision's line, PM me please.

Thanks

as a follow-up, i called and verified this. the gt35e61 is exactly the same as the precision 61 with the t04e compressor side + .63 A/R (but with the gt exhaust side of course)

just remember that the GT turbine is much more efficient with exhaust scavenging than the standard T series turbines.
