Default sc61 with a 2.5" dp?

anyone running an sc61 with a 2.5" dp? I just got my sc61 and I didn't think that the stage 5 wheel would be that much bigger than the stage 3. also the dp flange i bought is only like a 2.375" diameter. I have a/c so 3" is kinda outta the question. anyone have a 2.5" dp (or even 3" but retaining a/c)?

so to set the facts down:
stage 5 outlet = 2.75"
dp flange = 2.375"
downpipe piping = 2.5"

doesn't cause any spikes or anything?

my main concern was the edges of the dp flange basically BLOCKING flow out of the turbine wheel like this....

just a sketch but, anything outside that circle would be blocked off like this

I feel sorry for you Marc, putting that monster on a SOHC D16.

Can you open up the flange? If not, a 3-2.5 inch flare piece will work, you should have enough room then to run the rest of the DP in 2.5 inch.

checkign with my friend who has a machine shop. i was thinking it would be better to have the flange made bigger (can't go too big) but then if anything make it more of a transition to a smaller size. i dunno ill see just seeing what people think,

No spikes, no creeping.....Works fine, but I'm sure that I'm losing a couple of hp.

Very true, my a/c works just as well as it did when the car was stock and I live in LA, so it gets VERY hot.

That wheel isn't a stage 5. It has 11 blades which means its probably a P trim

You can run the 2.5" downpipe and its going to cause some turbulance and rob some power.... but you can still make a **** load. TurboTegB18c ran a inline pro mani w/ SC61 and 2.5" downpipe-2.75" exhaust and made 459whp @ 22psi...

Just run the 2.5" dp and grind the opening up to the 2.75. It'll work. Power wise, you might have some power robbed from you as direp said. Paul

Go with a .48A/R, full 3" dp and no restrictions exhaust and I bet that mother will spool quicker than hell. That's what I'll be doing with the SC50 that's going on my Y8.
