Default question on BOVs

kind of on a budget and looking for a BOV.
noticed that ebay BOVs are arent too expensive, but i've never been too big on ebay parts (especially ones relating to turbo applications). anyone had any experience with these? or would you recomend another BOV thats <$100? only using a greddy turbo kit so its not like im pushing that much boost. i've heard a lot of people talking about using crushed gen1s, never been able to figure out which vehicle those are from though. is that hard to do?
also im getting tuned and going to have 2 different boost settings (high and low), will that effect the BOV at all or should it work no matter what?

whichever BOV you choose, you should be fine on both high and low settings. about the BOV's, there are alot of fakes on Ebay if you haven't known. so I wouldn't know what to tell you there. the gen1 they refer to is the DSM(eclipse) BOV, and from what I know, these can be had for pretty cheap.

If you can do without bling, get a Bosch plastic unit used on on a lot of oem applications. These little suckers are rock solid and cheap. Can be used vented or recirculated. And you know what you are getting, as opposed to the ebay knockoffs which can be a bit of a risk.

For less than a hundo, try find a used name brand BOV. If that doesn't work, you can always use a trusty DSM uncrushed

the turbo has nothing to do with the BOV unless you start boost to much or to little...

I have a turbo XS bov I will sell you cheap that worked great on my car for about 3 months until the headgasket blew. I'm going Tial for looks now if you want to pick up a reliable BOV cheap

The stuff I've used from them has been very good, and nicely priced. Read the note about needing to trim the spring in these BOVs.

Yeah, those leak on stock VWs all the time. junk.

And yes 1st gen DSM valves can be recirculated. The one I had made a super high pitched whistle at part throttle. I threw it far, far away before I lost my mind. Picked up a clean used Vortec for $40 and have been using that for about 80k miles.
