question about moates burner
i m trying to install my moates burner and windows xp always installs its own drivers before i can install the moates drivers, anyone know what to do? also when i put my chip in my ecu how do i know which way it goes in?
I think you can install the driver by going through the device manager and choosing update driver. The chip orientation should be the same as all the other chips in the ecu going by the notch on one side.
The arrow on the chip faces the latch on the socket. put the chip all the way back from the latch.
You should be able to select install from disk when the install wizard opens.

no in win xp a install wizrd doesnt open it just says windows has detected a new hardware, then it says the drivers have been installed and is ready to use
It should look here:http://www.moates.net/gmecm/us...n.htm

Your having a problem with the burner then. Keep messing with it. The install wizard should open. If you go to device manager does it ID the burner?
For the orientation of the chip, check this out: http://moates.net/gmecm/burn1/...a.htm
I had the same problem that you had. Download this driver off of the Moate's site: http://www.moates.net/zips/FlashBurn.zip off of the same page. Once that is downloaded, make sure that your burner is connected and open the "Flash and Burn" file that you just downloaded. Should work.

Mine worked just fine even w/o installing the drivers from moates.net but I did it anyways.
Start (window) key + pause to get to System...
--> Hardware --> Device manager
find it and click update driver and when it says it already has one tell it to install yours anyways.
Pictures of how the chip goes in are on the website if what was said a couple of posts above isn't clear enough.
