Preferred Vacuum Choices...?
Okay, after doing a search and finding very little, I coming to this forum to see what the preferred spots are for "T-ing" off of to operate the BOV, boost guage, etc.
I realize that the FPR has its own special line that goes un-touched
So that leaves me with the following options:
1) the fitting on the lower part of the throttle body (Use to connect to the valve cover breather)
2) the lower left side of the intake manifold (that use to connect to the valve cover breather)
3) the vacuum line the runs from the upper part of the intake manifold down to a plastic valve in the center of the lower part of th inake manifold.
4) I guess the brake booster could be and option, but I am trying to avoid using that line so I won't have to step the vacuum line down to 1/4in.
Basically what connections have worked best and have been the most successful to use.
Thank you

brake booster + GE vauum manifold FTW
do once. do it right. done.
Or u can be cheap and T off pretty much every vac source for your engine and then have a rats nest of vac wires.
choose ur poison

i had everything T'd off my FPR line for about 9months. i had my bov, wg, fmu, and boost gauge all off the fpr. LOL!
when i put in my golden eagle vac manifold and t'd it off the brake booster, i only hooked up the bov and wg to it. all that was left on my fpr was the boost gauge and fmu for a week (i ditched the fmu a week later and got tuned). my butt dyno told me that everything was WAYYYY more responsive with the vac manifold off the brake booster. felt tons better
if u get a golden eagle manifold and the fittings, the fittings come with a T to tap the brake booster. that's what i used, just needed 5inches of a 3/8ID hose. no clamps
it's pretty damn tight on there. lol

Believe it or not I considered the last option, except I am tired of removing parts...I don't want to take off anymore parts
I'll wait to see the GE box, that may be the best option...any recomendation on where to purchase it for a reasonable price?

i dont see how its a rats nest. you need a boost gauge and bov vacuum lines. i used my fpr for boost gauge and brake booster for bov. Your way is cleaner ill admit but i wouldnt say a rats nest.

just search for vac manifold. there's a few good pics. hahaha. i searched about a month ago for some. ladysman (i think) has a nice setup one, i'll try to get pics of mine today or tomorrow.
i got my vac manifold from boostfed.com

yeha i mean u can set it up tobe clean but in the end all ur difference items are seeing slightly diff vacuum even tho its a closed system, although the manifold is nice cause it cleans up the bay, the main purpose is so all ur vac-peripherals reference the same point, and the brake booster is one of the biggest vac sources in the engine
plenty of vacuum to go around

Obviously there must not be a problem with this, but I have to ask...since you are using the vacuum line to the brake booster...is there anymore noticable brake fade?
here's a pic that shows the whole setup installed.

another alternative is to order all the parts from mcmaster or something similar. thats what i did. the block itself is much smaller and you can order a block with as many or as little ports as you want. it was a bit cheaper that way, but no golden eagle bling.
here's a close up of my setup. i was only using 2 ports at the time cause the install wasnt complete. but you get the idea. its hiding nicely under my strut bar.

i think right on the firewall is your best bet. but i think ive seen someone with a vac distribution box somewhere near the drivers shock tower. wasnt golden eagle though.

i got my GE vac manifold at a local shop.
for small things like that, i try to support the local guys
i use mine for
bov
3 bar map
boost guage
and 2 for my boost controller
good lcuk

mine is actually behind the firewall inside the windshield thing with just the ports in the firewall coming out it looks pretty tight i'll get some pics soon
edit: THIS IS NOT MY CAR ITS PANDAHATCH's but the vaccum setup is similar to mine

Absolute best way IMO. I always add ports when I pull an IM off a turbo car. Just did a WRX one yesterday...
The best part is you can put them in hidden places, nearby the part that needs the line rather than having a big octopus on your firewall
