i have a can of rustoleum flat black paint here. i know im suppoed to cover the fins w/ tape or something, but are there any other precautions/steps i should take before i spray it? andything will help. thanks.

 

I confused as to what you are painting...DO NOT PAINT YOUR INTERCOOLER...if you are painting just the end tank cool but don't paint the core - powder coat or anodize it - painting will hender performance

 

it will not hinder performance thats just a myth.

this is what will happen after a few months.......the paint will start flaking off and look butt ugly and u will have to paint it every so often. Becuz of all the stones hitting it. just get a mesh grill and paint that so u cant see the intercooler.

 

i REALLY want the black look. if you saw my car, you'd know. but just dont spray the fins, right?

 

u can spray the fins but dont put like 1" think of coating on it......heh
just dont clog em up.............ask VTC_CIVIC he just did his black last week.....do a search

hold the can further away and keep misting it........buy one of those spray can holders..........its adapter that goes on the nozzle and u just squeeze the handle and u dont get any paint on your fingers

 

thanks int3gra, thats the positive stuff i wanna hear. im going to PM him b/c i re-read that thread he started recently. i went out and bought the similar paint too. it was that thread that influenced me to have a black IC. thanks again.
