PISSED OFF!
I posted a while ago on how to properly break a motor in, so i got my motor in my CRX monday night and drove it home. I drove it for about 300 miles. Okay today is Saturday, and my motor wont start. It lost power yesterday when my dad was in the freeway. He said it just felt like the car went into neutral and started losing power. So he had it towed back to my apartment. If you ask, "why is your dad driving your car for?" I told him that we can drive it anywhere so i can break it in faster. Anyhow, so now, i looked at my engine to see if there is anything loose or got disconnected. but everything seemed fine. I checked oil level and it was dark as hell and was low. so i added two quarts of 10W30. tried to start it and ......nothing!
It sounds really bad when it tries to crank. i am gonna do a compression check later when my friend gets here. but what do you guys think happened. ? I was driving VERY VERY conservative too. Its a b16 that i had balanced and blueprinted, crower and srp installed, o-ringed block and port matched head. I am about to give up on this crap and start with something else. any insight on this.

If it's not catching at all, and the engine still freely spins, it almost certainly electical. Hook up a timing light, or pull a plug and ground it to check for spark while cranking the engine.
Otherwise, since you said it sounds bad, it's quite possible the engine builder did a less than perfect job.

Hey, we (my friend) just got done looking at my motor. And guess what!? the intake cam bearing siezed!!!WTF how can that happen, i dont know how i can loose oil pressure and cause that problem.? It was at #1 cylinder and the cam itself looked like it was grinded down bad! But, all in all im pretty happy, cuz all the money went into the bottom end anyways. Good thing i have an extra head laying around. Oh well, im gonna give Autosport of Seattle a call...damnit! thanks for the info

Well, looks like something plugged up the oil galleys and i just lost oil pressure on that one side of the intake cam. I should get it running by today, im just gonna put the stock head on for now
I have a B16A motor....dont they come with cam bearing?

Heh, I noticed on the D16 head I took apart a while back that it didn't seem to have any traditional bearings like I'm used to seeing in V8 motors. Just a machined portion on the head. Weird!
no cam bearings on hondas. just precision machine work. that's why cam towers or caps cannot be interchanged they must stay with the head or be line bored.
Anyway, I dont really know if there is a cam bearing in a b16 motor, but, its the part called cam cap. Theres like 3 pieces and thats were the oil runs through. What i found out was the machine shop installed the one in the middle wrong! which resulted in no oil in the outer part of the intake cam, even the exhaust cam was beginning to heat up! Kinda sucks, but, i have a spare head that im gonna use, and hopefully i can get something back from the machine shop here.
