Default o2 sensor woes

So i had a 97 civic that was turbo'd. The o2 sensor was near the tranny on top. Well i got rear ended and now i have a 99. The o2 sensor is near the oil filter. I tried removing the o2 sensor from the stock exhaust but with no luck since its so oxidized. So my question is, can I just cut the plug off the 99 o2 sensor, lengthen it, and solder it to the 97 one that still works?

I think you will be fine. The length does effect the resistance, and theorhetically would changes the reading. But I think it is a very small amount.

Here are some examples that support my reasoning, there are extension available and the universal oxygen sensor come as 'cut-to-length' and uses the original harness. Ideally, you want to get close in length, but really I don't think it matters much to the readings.

Both o2 sensors are 4-wire, right?
