New to Nos!

I want to spray on my 95 GSR with i/h/e. However I am relatively unfamiliar with what all i would need to run NOS on my car properly and safely, anyone with any recommendations on a set-up and proper usage and tuning please respond I would appreciate any comments.

Thanks,

Re: New to Nos! (blackout95teg)

NOS makes a pretty good kit and its got some decent instructions.. your on the right track going with them instead of one of the other Nitrous kit companies.

Re: New to Nos! (Overblown-Teg)

do i need upgraded plugs or wires or any kind of tuning device to make sure it runs better or do i just install it and go?

Nitrous Express (NX) makes good kits. I have a very knowledgable friend with a Camaro SS that was running a NOS dry 100-shot, and said he's switching to an NX wet kit. ZEX is also pretty good for a small dry shot.

Re: New to Nos! (blackout95teg)

Step 1. Don't call it NOS, call it N20
Step 2. Get a simple dry kit to start, ZEX is a good place to begin
Step 3. Get 2 steps colder plugs and retard timing based on the shot size

You need....

Nitrous (not NOS)
Colder Plugs
Retarded timing
Walbro fuel pump

What's the most power someone has seen a Honda motor make on nitrous? I'm still thinking about a ls/vtec with 11.5:1 CR with a Zex 50 shot.

I have a friend who has the zex so i probably go with them, with a 50 shot, what should i retard the timing to?

im from pittsburgh and i had a zex kit on my old civic. the most i ran was a 65 shot on it. Get a larger fuel pump so you dont run lean on the n2o. i was noticing i was starting to run lean with the stock civic fuel pump, i had a jdm gsr motor in it. get a step 1 colder plugs with a 55 shot - 65 shot and 2 steps with a 75 shot. thats what they recommend. other than that get a purge kit, cause its just so fucking cool https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif
good luck

Re: New to Nos! (Burke)

what does the purge kit do exactly?
what part of pittsburgh are you from?

Re: New to Nos! (blackout95teg)

the purge kit, cleans the lines of any air that might be in there and gives you a clean shot of n2o. it also looks really cool https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif when i had mine i had it purge right where the wiper were. it shot out over the windsheild. it was so cool https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
im from penn hills, near monroeville. but right now i am going to school in Youngstown, OH just over the border
good luck

really i always thought that the purge kit relieved all the pressure that was still in the lines so that it would not damage the solenoids.

i would go with zex also (see sig) and no need to retard timing on a 50 shot

That's what it is used for after your run. Before you spray you clean out the lines of any gaseous nitrous.
