Default Need help selecting a turbo.

I've got a '99 Integra GS that I plan on turboing here soon. I compete in SCCA solo and club racing events so I'm looking for something that spools quick and makes power all the way through redline. Other current mods to the car include:

Action 2ms 6 puck.
Action 9lb flywheel.
'99 S4C tranny w/ 4.40FD.
Mild head porting (cleaned up the intake side, portmatched the header side...currently running a Comptech header).
Crower springs and retainers.

I was looking at a few of the "SC" series turbo's from Precision and a few Garrett turbo's as well.

Thanks!

Not going to happen. It's one or the other, early spool and falling off at peak, or late spool and power all the way to redline.

I would however suggest a GT series turbo.

GT2871R with the .63AR housing at the very least to be specific, probably going to be the one that spools at a good point, makes decent power, and doesn't fall off a ton up top.

That would be one of the main Garrett units I was looking into. I've also been talking to Mac from STC (TheShodan on here) about having a custom one made for my application.

This website has great info on every turbo they offer and the spool characteristics as well as power fall off.
This link is for your application (from what you have stated)

Thinking about just going with the Precision SC34 57 trim w/ the .63 A/R

Not a bad choice either, pretty much just pick a whp goal or in your case a good powerband that you think will work best for your application and pick a turbo that's going to compliment it.

SC34
T3T04e 50/57trim
GT2871R

I wouldn't go below at .63AR on any of them, but those seem to fit your goals pretty well. Obviously the GT series turbo is going to have the thickest powerband so you really can't beat that, but it has to fit your budget.

Good luck!
