NEED HELP FROM JRSC GUYS! ASAP
i noticed my battery light came on in my 96 RS with JRSC. so i naturally thought the alternator was bad but when i popped the hood to look i noticed the pulley on the supercharger wasnt moving at idle or even when i revved the engine, the same as the alternator pulley. You can tell its trying to budge free when i rev on it but something is holding it back. almost like its seized up somewhere between the alternator and the pulley on the end of the blower. but when the car is off i can move the pulley along with the belt. How many belts should their be in that region? #1 Crank to alternator, #2 alternator to blower right? i really need help with this as i need it fixed by monday night or else im stuck far from home. thanks guys!
not entirely clear on what you're trying to say.
but if it were mine, i'd pull the belts off and check to make sure all
the pulleys rotate freely,
if one is locked up, you can find it, and adress it's problem.

But they turn freely with the car off?
Are your belts tight?
It sounds like the belt going from you crank to the alt could be so loose that the crank pullly is just spinning and not getting enough grip to turn the alt and just chewing up your belt.

how many belts should there be? Theres only one belt from the supercharger to the alternator. What is that little gold pullley? Like is it an idler? it appears as a belt was on it but its missing now. i noticed when im driving, the battery light will flicker on and off like the alternator is spinning for a moment but then seizes up. how should i go about inspected the belts? thanks guys so much.

how many belts should there be attached to the alternator pulley? i only have one and i noticed on the crank pulley it appears as if could have one more attached and it would line up perfectly with the other pulleys. also the belt on my superchager is silver. what are the sizes for these belts that i'll need
haha yeah!

GOT HOME! THANKS GUYS! ok quick question. i know the belt (alternator) belt is suposed to rest on the gold tensior but how tight should it be? i could smell the belt burning when i first put it on (500 miles ago now) and it appears to be turning silver. the logos or part number on it is gone. Should it be rubbing that hard?
yea, sounds way too tight. I believe the s/c to alt. belt should only be at about 30lbs tension and the others 70 or so, correct me if im wrong. Also, get a ruler and you will be able to tell if the tension is right if you can push the belt and it moves down 3/8"

Sounds to me like the idler/tensionner (Silver/aluminum) pulley is siezed.

no that silver pulley is fine. it rotates freely. i got an 800mm belt and i think i should have gotten an 815 or so. becuz it was tight as fawk already without the tensioner. at least its fine so i got home. but ill change it again soon.

yeah, you need to pay careful attention to your belt tensioning,
and get it right.
too much tension can damage the bearings on ur charger.
too little can cause slippage
jacksonracing.com should have install instructions with info on how much tension you need
