Need Fast spooling Turbo for B16
Hallo,
can someone give me an advise for a very fast spooling turbo for a B16 and for a 2Ltr. sleeved B-Series engine.
both redline at aprox. 8500rpm-9000rpm
i know that there must be a compromise between lag and top-end performance but i need something fast spooling for auto-x
just give me a few ideas if you know something.
Thanks
Malte.

Hi,
what type of T3 do you prefer? or other question.. which T3 trim/size would make power at 8000rpm?
i know the GT28R and RS.... gt28r is ok from spooing... 28rs is not that good on a b16.
with fast spool i mean as soon as possible without loosing too much top end power... a bit is ok, but i don't want a sanil at higher rpms just for a good spool up.

With Garrett Prices ever so on the rise for the GT30R, GT2871, and GT28Rs as much as I like those units, I have found some of the Borg-warner applications to be just as, if not more effective than that application. After some serious research of their facility and tolerance levels, the only reason why they aren't used much in the aftermarket is because they had never really developed the same distributor system as Garrett. Innovative is one of them, but they use a different ISO-9006 process.
My next turbo to design for the B16 will be a borg-warner..In completion of that right now. I'm just tired of Garrett and their sudden price increases as an excuse to slow down demand of their turbos.

I have a stock B16 with forged pistons and rods with a gt3076 and it spools around 4500rpm. I made 276HP and 200lbs at 9psi.

fast spooling; the 18g is nice, but doesnt make a whole lot of power until you toy with it. great for fast spooling DD turbo on the street imo
