Default My fuel pump bit the dust

Heres the delima...my stock fuel pump is only putting out 15 psi of pressure and can only hold it for 20 seconds before it goes to 0 psi. I wanted to put another pump in there to test it to double check that the pump is the problem before i spend the big bucks on a new pump. Is there a safe way to do this, i just dont think putting a bare 12v wire and ground wire in the gas tank is very safe. I would be using the fuel pump that drag supplies with there kits. Also, do bosch fuel pumps use stock fuel pump wiring and mounting?

it does sound like your fuel pump took a crap on you. I would say get a new one right away. and yes, Bosch does use factory hook-ups

you can just purchase a pump from a salvage yard. i purchased my 99 prelude fuel pump used with about 2000 miles on it for $20.

Yeah, mine just bit the dust too, as you know from yesterday. I am going to look for a new one today, low pressure. No RRR here

92CivicSiR- Where did you get that turbo pic??? It's my turbo! Bastards!!!

I dont plan on replacing this with a stock one just becuase i would rather have one pump than two to worry about. Is anyone positive that the bosch pump plugs up to the PRELUDE. From what ive heard the bosch pump is pretty much the only one that can hang with high pressure. What about a performance pump for a mustang or something. A local domestic shop sells them for about 130. I know it would require slight modification, but unless the bosch one fits the prelude, then i dont think any pump will drop right in. Any opinions or thoughts, I dont really have a ton of money to spend, but i want to do it right.

oh, i had thought you wanted to stil keep the stock pump.

i can't tell you how long i looked into trying to find an intank pump for my accord. i just couldn't find one and i'm sure it's the same with the prelude, unless there is some modification.

or unless you find someone running your car and actually has one. not sure about the prelude but i know for my accord i have to drop the fuel tank to get to the pump. it's a big pain in the ***.

our fuel pumps can be access without dropping the tank.

I also have some new info to add to the confusion. My fuel pump is only getting the signal to cut on half the time. I hooked a volt meter to the two wires and only got voltage half the time. My fuel pressure gauge shows that about 1 out of 25 times the pressure goes to 37 and drops down. Like the pumps trying but cant make it. all the other times it just goes to 15-20 psi. Isnt the fuel pump suppose to cut on every single time you turn the ignition to ON? Ive already check the PGMIF fuel relay and it is good, what else is there?

Try running a wire straight from the Batt to the fuel pump while the car is running, or use another relay and a switch just to be sure the fuel pump is working or not. It may be a loose wire in between the ecu to the main relay or from the fuse to the relay to the pump. The only way to be sure if the pump is bad is a direct connection and watch the pressures, that eliminates the ecu and relay as a probable cause.

I read somewhere on this board that there is a high pressure holley/walbro pump, there is a in-tank replacement from holley. Also, since you have the peak hold injectors, maybe you could get some big injectors from a DSM and a supra fuel pump and keep the fuel pressures low.........

Yep, I just ordered a holley intank. Check out the info out here: http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...InTank-SC.html

I just got my fuel pump, man is that sucker tiny. It appears to be a walboro pump after all, does holley just rebadge the pumps?

Is that an intank?? I am not a big fan of the inline, and I have been using a MF2 which does not require high pressure like you *other* guys need. Lucky? don't think so. If I needed one before, I would have gotten one.

low fuel pressure rocks!

how much does the walbro pump flow...does it fit like a stock intake pump? How much did you pay?

apexii i was talking to turbolude,i was wodering why he runs a drag gen 2 w/ only the stock fuel pump.thats risky to say the least, try looking into the hondata and some 440cc injectors, then you can toss the fmu and run a stock/performance pump @ low pressures...

lucas, my mistake on that. I assumed it was me, because I too have been using a stock pump, although not with high pressure.

beau, I got a holley FI pump. It's the 12-916 255lph one. It is, however, a rebadged walboro pump, i'll look up the p/n later. I paid $150 from a local place and i'm skipping happy hour tonight JUST to install this sucker...

I have the inline pump that came with the drag kit, but im afraid that one is done too. It is making really crazy noises and shoots my fuel psi to 110 psi with the car off and the ignition on...and it doesnt hold pressure.

Your going to have to give me the part number and keep me updated as to how the install is. I wrote holley and they said they had nothing for my application.

Well, i am not happy. This pump is not going to work. The application part# 12-916 and it's for civics and integras. I don't know wether the kit is missing parts, but the bag only had the sock, 2 clamps and the hose. There should have been an isolator, and a wiring harness. The bag was sealed and boy am I glad I took pics of it before I opened it.

The damm sock is not even pointed at the right angle, and look how much smaller it is.

The walboro p/n is GSS351.
