My destruction pics :)
UPDATE: Well I guess only 1 piston survived. Every ringland break is in the exact same spot, right on the intake side?

D16A6, #1 cylinder. 10.5psi, 450's and turboedit. a/f ratio was in the 12's, what I think did it, was that cylinder always seemed to burn oil (could tell by the spark plugs) and I think that with the higher boost it lowered the octane in that cylinder a little too much.

That engine costed me $150 a couple years ago, but I'm picking up another one from a buddy for free and gonna rebuild it. It's pretty cool though to join the blown motor club

They're pretty cheap. I passed an a6 up a year or two ago that was $80, and a few other random ones around $100. I usually have a spare or two hanging around too
When I blew this one, I swapped in another the next day.

Either you detonated or your car had too much power for that d series piston.Im pretty sure your suppose to run 11.5 A/R on the street to avoid the big D. Wow your from Ontario IMPORT CAR COP HATING OF THE WORLD.Cops cant stand imports there whew glad I dont live there.
Yea it detonated because of the excess oil in the cylinder, and I dont live in ontario, I'm in norcal
It was a pm6 that I chipped and tuned myself
(edit- I remember talking to you about something
Guess it was ecu related.)
Blew it on the first run down the dragstrip, had no freaken traction, I'd let it catch traction in 3rd, then once boost came in it would break loose again, I shifted into 4th way too early I guess and gave it WOT at like 3k at full boost. Then I started to notice the smoke in my cabin wasn't from the tires
Popped the hood and there was oil all over the place, running on 3 cylinders, and my dipstick was popped out. I knew it was ringlands. So I drove it home with the acceleration of like 50hp and a **** load of smoke out the back. I waited till nightfall so I had less of a chance of someone calling the chp on me and having them track me down

i have blown 4 D series
the first one was $130
the second one was free since i rebuilded an engine
the third one was $200
and the 4th one was $100 + some booty since it belonged to my old ex-girlfriend, and she was kinda horny (she wanted $200 originally)

I'd mount that engine on the wall in a trophy room.
