Motorola map sensor

I need to upgrade my stock map sensor. i was looking at the 3 bar motorola map sensor on ebay and such. i was wandering how many people are using them and if you guys have any type of problems with them. i need to order one tonight so any input would be helpful.

thanks

As long as you get your EMS calibrated properly for them (pgmfi.org will have the numbers/calcs for them), they work great. They are very linear, and very cheap. The down side is they don't use a standard connector, at least not standard for automotive use.

Motorola Map sensors FTMFW...I've been running my 4 bar for almost a year...2.5 bar for 2 years before that.

does anyone sell these with the correct plugs to use as a direct replacement? or do you have to do the wiring yourself? http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

you have to do the wiring yourself but it comes with instructions. its 3 wires how badly could it go wrong.

The 2.5 bar sensor does a great job & is very reliable.

so you have to pin the wires into the sensor?

Re: Motorola map sensor (crawlin)

Yes, and that picture is the 2.5 bar sensor. The 3 bar only comes in the micro size IIRC, with a 1/8" port and TINY legs - you have to solder them onto it, as its meant to be put on a PC board. I'm surprized Xenocron didn't pimp his adapter boards for them yet https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

if you have to pin the wires into the sensor i'd rather pay any extra $20 for a plug and play sensor. i suck at wiring and would rather pay more than do shotty/questionable work, expecially with a map sensor...

then instead of you doing it..
a- either get the pigtail for the motorola (just go to digikey and ask the online support)

b- get someone who can do it for you

The 2.5 Sensor kit is the easiest really...just three easy wires to splice in.

I have the 3 and 4 bar kits in either DIY or already soldered up with the board Dave Blundell & I designed together.

I only suggest the mini 3 bar and 4 bar kits if you really need to run that much boost and possible want to HIDE this tiny map sensor inside your stock MAP for a stealth look. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
