Most important FI gauges?

true egt to see how lean or rich, how close to detonation. oil pressure in case you spring a leak on an oil feed or return line so you dont spin a bearing or worse. boost to see if you are spiking, creeping, or to see when you reach full boost.
also for me there is the tach, my little cx didnt come with one in the gauge cluster. also very important to me

Hrm.. Well i just bought some defi (non-link) boost and air/fuel gauges, and currently waiting on cash for EGT. I guess in a few months i can buy oil pressure and something else. Thanks for the replies fellas.

i'd also add to this a knock meter.. I had one - and saved my engine many many times.

without this meter and the A/F (LambdaLink), I wouldn't be boosting my Honda - its hard to hear detonation when you have an external wastegate dumping to underneath your car

Boost, Oil pressure, cause oil leaks are by far the MOST common thing I always hear about when poeple go Force Induction. Hey, I had a oil leak, but I didn't know, the only way I knew was I noticed that my oil pressure gauge read a big fat ZERO PSI.
Fuel Pressure
EGT
So in all about 4 gauges
Boost
Oil Pressure
Fuel Pressure
EGT

I'm currently haveing a discussion with a board member about knock sensors. My feeling is that Knock sensors are great to make sure things are in check. You don't know how many times "little" things have caused my car to detonate. Bad "high octane" gas in foerign towns. I had a fuel pump failure. I had an injector seal leak which caused a boost leak which lead to detonation. I had a hole in my intercooler from a stone. I had a failing injector. I mean, just tons of things. The knock sensor encompases allmost any other gauges. If you EGT is high, you'll knock. If your a/f isn't right, you'll knock. If your timing is astray, you'll knock. If you intake charge is to hot, you'll knock. I'm just trying to let you guys know that a lot of factory turbo guys really do a lot with their knock sensors. THE GN guys, Supra guys, DSM guys, sr20det guys, etc...

Boost, EGT, Oil Press, Fuel Press, and if your wondering about a Knock Amp....HKS has one coming out shortly...check that sucka out.....looks great and affordable compared to the FJO lamba meter.......
I thought that knock meters didn't work will with built engines because forged pistons make noise that a knock meter would interpret as detonation?
I'd get a oil temp if you did any road racing.

I know the J&S is designed to filter out mechanical noises like this. However, a well built engine shouldn't have any piston slap if all the clearances are maped out correctly and a well designed piston is used. I know for a fact that a lot of guys with factory knock sensors that rebuild their engine with upgraded internals don't have any problems. Not only that, but a lot of factory turbo cars come stock with forged pieces.
