Default Milling b16 head to rais comp.

Well we all know ways to incease comp withou pistons. However on my FI build i was just looking for advise.

Setup
AEBS sleeves
84mm
b20b block
cp 8.9:1 pistons
eagle rods
ACL race bearings
stock b16 head.
skunk 2 pro 1 or 2 cams.

Now I just did a full port job from www.Renown-Performance.com as well as had them install new Bronze valve guides and duel springs. also did a valve job on the stock valves.
I figured this would be a great opportunity to mill the head down maybe give the b16 a larger quench pad the the GSR heads. if i could get in to maybe 9.5 or heck even 9.8 id be happy.

How much can I take off the head? what are your thought on doing this.

I'm personally not a fan of skimming anything to raise the compression ratio. If i was in your shoes though and reaaaally wanted to bump up it up a bit i'd skim the block and head a tad and use a thin Toda head gasket.

Well at the cost of the toda I dunno plus i have the ls/vtec cometic gasket now.

if i could just get to 9.5 i would be happy.

Anyone have another thoughts?
I know its been done but i wanna see results or reasons.

Dont have my Helms files at this location but as far as factory max. I guess that'd give u the benchmark.
Here u have to hold a gun to the machinist's head to stop them from milling. Gotta pay for those machines.

For the turbocharger you plan to run, I'd stick with the Pro1 camshafts and NOT the Pro2s because of the p2v clearance issues you would DEFINITELY encounter if you went Pro2s. For the compression that you're looking for, you want only .008" on the head milled assuming you're using an OEM .027" gasket or Cometic .030" VTEC head gasket. If it winds up being about 9.0:1-9.2:1, you'll have the same responsiveness as though you were 9.5:1 anyway. the only true difference in acceleration points between the static compression ratios is from 1-2 full points in static compression change (i.e. 8.0:1 --> 9.0:1 , or 9.0:1 --> 10.0:1)

That's the best way to do this if you're a bit stuck.

Interesting, not to thread jack, but i was wondering this same thing about my vitara build, d16y8, p2po rods and vitaras makes 8.5:1 static c/r, would I benefit by milling enough to get to 9:1 ? And howuch would I have to mill to make this c/r 9:1 ?
