Default ls turbo help

Im looking to buy a turbo this coming spring for my 95 SE and ive tried searching this website and others to try to find out whether the revhard stage II or the drag III is better, more reliable, more HP, faster. Anyone know for sure ?? or are they both equal??

They are just about equal...supposedly the drag manifold is known to be weaker....from what I've heard the revhard is better for the track and the drag is better on the street...but pretty much they are identical...the drag IC piping is better looking

can't go wrong with either, they both are just as reliable as the next turbo kit, as long as whoever installs it knows exactly what they are doing. As far as power output, i've seen awesome numbers from both kits. I'm happy with my drag, it looks great under the hood and gave me the power i wanted.

ok, so i think ill be leaning towards a drag kit considering your guys feedback. Where can i check out this groupbuy, does he have the ball bearing upgrade as well, i hear that helps the turbo spool faster

ben supplies the ball bearing upgrade for $550, if the price is still the same. The wait on the turbo is gonna make you wanna say screw it, but once you realize that boost starts building under 2000rpms, you will not regret the choice.

I have to disagree, i think the revhard piping looks better then the drag.. Revhard manifold vs. Drag? well i dunno about that.. they both are good but theres some rumors of the Drag 3 manifold causing boost spike when used in conjuction with a 3" down pipe..

I have revhard for my LS and ultimately I'm happy with it. There were a few minor problems along the way during the install and such, but it's all worked out now and the kit is serving me well...

I'd say it's a toss up between RH and drag. Since Ben is offering an awesome deal on Drag III right now, might be best to go with that.

But, the reasons I like revhard better:
Better manifold. Low chance of boost spike when upgrading to a 3" exhaust setup compared to the Drag manifold.
Bigger intercooler
Louder and better sounding blow-off valve (in my opinion).
Also, revhard piping seems to stay nice and cool, or at least warm post-IC. Even after a vigorous drive, I'll pop the hood and the piping will be luke warm to the touch. My friend occassionally notices that his Drag piping (chrome plated), seems to heat up easily and get really hot after driving.
Might not necessarily result in any power loss or whatnot, but something interesting to note.

I love my LS turbo, but then again.......it's not in an LS either....... DRAG is good, my kit might as well be custom tho as much extra stuff as I had to for it to fit it my chassis........well worht it tho.

true..
Bigger intercooler
very true...

Hmmm, mine is louder than DiRep972....IMO, Chris ??

Well, mine stays cool after vigorous driving..hmmm

well, here't the wonderful thing about Drag, just my $.02..

you get the intake piping and filter, which from DiRep972's experience, I am glad I didn't have to go through that.... (~100-150 bucks for piping and filter)

again, I am happy with drag, but initially I was gonna go rev-hard, but Ben's GB kinda swing me the other way..

the HKS SS BOV that comes with Drag gen III is just way different than the Vortech that comes with revhard.....
I dunno, maybe Jake's isn't set up right....sounds like an amplified mouse sneeze..hehe. But it sounds cool...
The vortech is more of a plain wooshing sound....if there is plenty of boost built, it will be a harsh snapping sound followed by the gush of air... Sounds like any of the BOVs in GT3.
I thought mine was louder than Jake's....he muttered that too....maybe he just needs to adjust it or something.

Hmm....Chris, what do you use then if you don't have the Drag dumptube?
Mine was routed straight out right after the install, and after like 30 minutes of driving boosting for maybe 10 seconds total, my FAL fan was completely melted.....So I thought it's necessary to have the drag dump tube.

Anyway, it sounds kind of cool to me....very harsh and mean. I have a $3 flex pipe attached so it pours out the exhaust right near the oil pan and straight to the ground. Actually I might miss the sound of that if I decide to close the loop.

Ben,

It's f%*&@cken sweeeet!

Car itself is great...I keep it at 0.5 bar daily. One thing I noticed is that my downpipe bolts seem to loosen or something causing a vibrating noise when I accelerate. I think it has to do with the fact that I don't have any flex in my exhaust system so motor torque can't be relieved in any way.
This just makes all the more excuse to get my thermal and 3" downpipe with flex pipe built in ASAP
